Andrew Thomas, 27, of Falmouth was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck headed south. Deadly blaze kills Falmouth man

A 31-year old Falmouth man died in a fire at his home at 2:47 a.m. on May 6 at 60 Chad Lane in Southside Subdivision south of Falmouth.

William S. Northcutt, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passerby called 911 to report that the house was on fire. Kentucky State Police Trooper Scott Lengle was close by and he responded to the scene. The Falmouth Fire Department was dispatched. The house was almost fully engulfed when Lengle arrived.

Tpr. Lengle said that due to the late hour he kicked the front door open to check to see if anyone was inside the home. "When I shined my flashlight around I saw the body of the man," Lengle said. "Falmouth Policeman Brian Locknane went into the house with me and helped me pull the man outside. Once we got him outside Pendleton Sheriff's Deputies Eddie Quinn and Jared Brewer helped us carry the man across the street. Pendleton County Ambulance EMTs and Transcare tried to revive Northcutt but was unable to bring him back."

"Northcutt's body was not to far from the front door," Lengle said.

Firemen fought the blaze and got it under control. The home was a brick home and is a total loss. There were other homes close on both sides of the burned home.

The incident is under investigation by State Police Detective Chris Jaskowiak and Arson Investigator Curtis Combs of Post 6, Dry Ridge, with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall's Office.

Death Visits Pendleton County High School

Reaper hand-picks fifteen student victims

By Roger McKinney, Reporter

The Willie Nillies and the Heebie Geebies were scurrying about, like baby spiders, as the Grim Reaper put in a full day's work at PCHS on Friday, May 4, 2007.

Fortunately, Death served merely as a puppet in the Kentucky Department of Transportation's alcohol and drug awareness program called GHOST OUT. This safety education production was overseen by Coordinator Brandon Muravchick.

There are six billion people living on the face of the Earth, in total, more individuals than have ever existed throughout the course of human history. In less than 120 years we will all be dead. So, we have a lot of dying to do. The trick is not to die before our time. Traffic crashes are the number one killer of teens, and over one-third of teen traffic deaths are alcohol related. Every 30 minutes a person dies because someone chose to drive while intoxicated.

Monday through Thursday (April 30 to May 3), Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and the PCHS Student Council distributed literature that included information on the hazards and consequences of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and the importance of wearing safety belts. Many facts concerning alcohol and drug related car crashes were read each day during school announcements. On Thursday each student received a GHOST OUT Trivia Quiz. Prizes were awarded in Friday's assembly to students, who answered all the trivia questions correctly. Student Council Advisors: Julia Hart and Ashley Stinson, plus, South Family Resource Center Program Director, Kelly Staten, supervised pupil participation in the GHOST OUT production and asked for door prize donations from county merchants.
