By Jackie Vaughn, Reporter
Pendleton County Sheriff Craig Peoples investigated an injury accident involving a motorcycle and a truck at 2:56 p.m. Wednesday, May 23. Gene Marksberry, 73, of Falmouth, was traveling south on US 27 in a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pick-up truck and was preparing to make a left turn onto Main Street. He stated that he checked his left side mirror to change into the center lane and drifted across into the northbound lane.
Mr. Marksberry struck Ralph Carpenter, 62, of Villa Hills, who was riding a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle. Mr. Carpenter was pushed towards the curb and flipped over the bike, landing on the side of the road.
Falmouth Police Officer Ricky Grigson and Kelly Ramsey were both witnesses to the accident. Pendleton County Ambulance Service responded to the scene to administer first-aid and the Falmouth Fire Department was dispatched to setup a landing zone for aircare in the empty lot beside the old Tony's Steakhouse.

Fogle and Sissel will face each other in November
Not many residents in Pendleton County turned out to cast their vote in the May Primary Election May 22, 2007. Only 14% voted.
There was only one local race and that was for District 3 Magistrate. The office had been held by the late Paul Dickison and with his death in December Mark Hart had been appointed by the Governor to fill the vacancy through the end of the year.
Ed Sissel (R) with 55 votes beat his opponent Mark Hart (R) with 47.
Bobby Fogle (D) won his race with 177 votes against Darrin Gregg (D), 28 votes; Hazel J. Clifford (D), 56 votes; and Raymond Hess (D) with 51 votes.
Sissel and Fogle will go against each other in the November General Election. Governor Ernie Fletcher won
the Republican bid for Governor in the county with 249 votes to the Democrat Candidate Steve Beshear winning the Democratic bid with 406 votes ahead of his closest contender, Wm. Bruce Lunsford with 251 votes in our local county election. Statewide the chosen candidates carried through. Governor Fletcher won the Republican ticket statewide with 101,256 votes and Beshear gathered 142,733 votes for the Democratic bid.

Seniors bid farewell to PHS!

Just before the final moment came to line up and commence the march into the gym and up to the stage last Wednesday evening many of the seniors found themselves all choked up as this would be the last time they would ever see many of their classmates. Some were somber and others jumped and tripped with cheer as they came up to receive their diploma. In the top photo a group of senior boys tip their hats to bid a farewell to ol' PHS. Pictured (l-r), Dustin Robbins, Daniel Bennett, Mark Hickey and Tyler Figgins.

In the photo above, classmates help each other to make sure their robes and honor cords are fixed just right. Pictured (l-r), Christina Larison, Johnna Griffin and Trisha North. Photo by D. Dennie.
