Bowen Farm Supply opens second store

By Debbie Dennie, Editor

Bowen Farm Supply held an open house on Friday, November 3 for their new Florence store, located off I-75 at the Mt. Zion Road on Sam Neace Drive.

The grand opening was celebrated with several representatives from the John Deere Company, Representatives from the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore, John Deere Branch Manager for the Columbus Branch, Jerry Roell; as family members and friends watched Mrs. Jo Ross cut the ribbon.

Chamber Representatives presented the Ross Family with a framed $1 bill recognizing their first dollar of clear profit for the Florence store. John Deere representatives presented the family with a framed print of the first blacksmith shop John Deere used to invent the plow.

Bowen's Florence location sits on 2.3 acres and has approximately 10,000 sq. ft for the office, spacious show room and the service department.

Today's third generation brothers, Mark, Brad and Matt Ross took over operating the family business from their father, Arnold Ross. Their mother Jo Bowen Ross worked in the business with her father, L. E. "Booker" Bowen.

The Ross brothers decided in September of 2005 that they would be opening the Florence store.

"John Deere wanted us to open a dealership here and here we are," said Mark Ross. "We are pretty happy about it."
