Clay Bowman, 19, Butler

Clay Michael Bowman, 19, of Butler, passed away early Sunday, February 8, 2009 in an automoblie accident, while traveling south on Highway 22 W. in Pendleton County.
He was born in Campbell County on October 26, 1989, the son of Mike and Dorothy (Seibert) Bowman.
He was an employee of Edgewood Electric, a 2008 graduate of Pendleton County High School, and a member of the FFA, 4-H and NBHA. He loved his horses, the game of basketball, hunting, fishing and enjoyed his friends.
Surviving in addition to his parents are brother, Chad Bowman of Butler; sister, Holly Bowman of Butler; grandparents, Green and Edna Bowman of Butler and Richard and Pam Seibert of Alexandria; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February, 12, 2009. Pallbearers will be Nathan Norton, Kyle Feeback, Tony Bowman, Nick Mudd, Bryant Rogers, Cody Gosney, Chad Bowman, Jason Thomas, Jessie Lorenz and Randy Coffey.
Interment will take place as a private family burial at Butler Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Clay Bowman Memorial Fund @ Peoples Funeral Home.

Randy Turner, 51, Butler

Randy Turner, 51, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Ky.
He was born on August 25, 1957, son of Ruth and the late Conley Turner.
Randy was an accomplished guitarist, a well know guitar technician and also recorded music as a secession player in Nashville, Tenn. He traveled around the world as a professional musician for 28 years and was the lead guitarist for the band, "Black Mountain." He attended the Flour Creek Christian Church and was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Diane Utz Turner of Butler; goddaughter, Erica Hudson of Independence; brothers, Conley Turner Jr. of Clearwater, Fla. and Kenny Turner of Butler; sister Connie Prunty of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Interment was at the Buck Herald Cemetery in Breathitt County, Ky.

Lewis Bowen, 96, DeMossville

Lewis Alford Bowen, 96 of DeMossville, passed away on January 31, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Pendleton County on April 25, 1912, son of the late Henry Raymond and Florence Louise Mangold Bowen.
He was united in marriage on February 9, 1931 to Clarice Thelma Blades who preceded him in death on December 6, 1997.
He was the oldest member of the Unity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a former church treasurer, a carpenter, farmer and formerly operated the Ethridge Grocery. He also served as a bus driver for Pendleton County Schools.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin Bowen, Spencer Bowen and Chester Bowen and sister, Hilda Schlueter.
Surviving are daughter, Wilma (Fred) Rose of DeMossville; brother, Clyde E. Bowen of Fairborn, Ohio; grandchildren, Beverly (Marvin) Davis of DeMossville, Kathy (Jeff) Banfield of Falmouth, and Linda (Darren) Justice of Dry Ridge; great-grandchildren, Andrew Justice of Dry Ridge, Scott (Amanda) Davis of DeMossville, Luke Banfield of Falmouth and Madison Justice of Dry Ridge; great-great-grandchildren, Clarissa Davis, Tanner Davis and Carter Davis all of DeMossville and many other relative and friends.
Services were held on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.
Interment was at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Dav-is, Andrew Justice, Matthew Davis, Luke Banfield, Darren Justice and Jeff Banfield. Hono-rary pallbearers were Marvin Davis, Fred Rose and Doodle Bobb.

Elsie Adams, 82, Falmouth

Elsie Faye Adams, 82, of Falmouth, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at her home.
She was born in Pendleton County on January 30, 1927, daughter of the late Theodore and Kathryn Perkins Wilson Sr.
She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church, worked at the D.A.V., retired from the IRS, was the loving wife of Alvin Adams whom she wed on May 25, 1946 and a devoted mother.
Prededing her in death was brother, Ted Wilson Jr.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Melanie (Alan) Redden of Butler and Kay (Jim) Hammack of Falmouth; sister, Joan Hart of Falmouth; grandchildren, Mark Redden, Darrin Wright, Brandon Redden, Trish Lovelace and Jamie Moellman; great-grandchildren, Ashley Wright, Jordan Franxman, Dylan Wright, Cody Wilson, Mathew Moellman, Katie Moellman, Allie Redden, Julie Redden, Annie Redden, Bradie Lovelace, Andrew Redden and Ella Redden.
Services were held on Saturday, February 7 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Interment was at the Butler Cemetery.

Dempsey Bishop, 87, Falmouth

Dempsey Robert "Rob" Bishop, 87, of Falmouth, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Med-ical Center South in Edgewood.
Born on October 2, 1921 in Pendleton County, he was the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Jenkins Bishop and was the last surviving child in his family.
He married Rosemary Verner Bishop on March 12, 1949 and his dear wife preceded him in death on June 8, 1984.
He was a farmer and he faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are sons, Ernest Richard (Joyce) Bishop, Robert Allen Bishop, and Stephen (Cathy) Bishop, all of Falmouth; daughters, Emma (Larry) English, Mary Alice (Steve) Buckley, Susan Miller and Bernice (Greg) Camidge, all of Falmouth; grandchildren, Ricky Bishop, Stevie Bishop Jr., Shawn Bishop, Chad Camidge, Steven Buckley, Josh Miller, Shelly Harden, Angie Stewart, Amanda Johnson, Stephanie Pike, Ashley Spicer, Nancy Bishop, Brenda Baker, Chastity Camidge, Chase Camidge, Jason Work, and Josh Work; great-grandchildren, Douglas Baker, Joseph Baker, Jocelyn Bishop, Jada Acuff, Johnny Acuff, Tucker Cox, Hunter Work, Layton Camidge, Kristen Stewart, Kodie Stewart, Lane Pike, Lilly Ann Miller, Richard Harden, Tiffany Harden, Marissa Bishop, Zach Bishop, Tristen Bishop, Austin Bishop and Alex Bishop.
Services were held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Woodhead Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Flynn officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Bishop, Stevie Bishop Jr., Shawn Bishop, Chad Camidge, Steven Buckley, Josh Miller, Chase Camidge and Jason Work. The honorary pallbearers were Douglas Baker, Joseph Baker, Johnny Acuff, Tucker Cox, Hunter Work, Layton Camidge, Lane Pike, Richard Harden, Zach Bishop, Austin Bishop and Alex Bishop.
Interment with full military honors took place at the Oakland Cemetery.

Mary Cordray, 87, Florida

Mary Elizabeth (Mary Lib) Cordray, passed away on January 20, 2009 in Melbourne, Fla.
She was born in Falmouth, on August 9, 1921, daughter of the late Hallie Struve and Henry Clay Hume and on September 12, 1937 was married to John William (Bill) Cordray who preceded her in death.
Mary Lib was active in civic, business, and social life of Falmouth and Pendleton County for many years and owned and operated Cordray Brothers Grocery and Creamery along with her husband and brother-in-law Chuck Cordray. They also operated a huckster route. She was active in revitalizing the Falmouth City School PTA, serving first as vice-president and later president for two terms. Mary Lib was a member of the The Daughters of American Revolution, Trinity Baptist Church in Falmouth and Bowe Baptist Church in Melbourne, Fla.
Surviving are daughters Mary Sue Cordray of Arlington, Va. and Margaret Ann (John) Cornett of Satellite Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Stuart Clay (Stephanie) Robinson of Asheville, N.C., Teresa Michele (Joseph) Parlapiano of Merritt Island, Fla., and John Timothy (Christa) Robinson of Parkville, Md.; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Clayton Wolfinbarger, 68

Clayton Wolfinbarger, 68, of DeMossville, passed away on Friday February, 5, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on October 19, 1940, son of the late Otis and Ruby Ingram Wolfinbarger.
He was a self-employed construction worker and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Jay Wolfinbarger of DeMossville; sons, Clayton Wolfinbarger Jr. of Detroit, Mich., Gary, Randy and Steven Wolfinbarger all of DeMossville; daughters, Sharon Rice of Covington, Virginia Wolfinbarger of Ludlow and Sheri Wolfinbarger of DeMossville; sisters, Peggy Updike and Wilma Cavins, both of Dry Ridge and Juanita Stephenson of Crittenden; half-brother, James Wolfinbarger of Houston, Texas and eleven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden with services immediately following. Bro. Terry Parnell, Bro. Ken Yarborough and Bro. Melvin Sisson will conduct the services.
Interment will take place at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.

 

Verna Flora, 92, Cold Spring

Verna (Wilson) Flora, 92, of Cold Spring, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, at her residence.
She was a retired buyer for the J. C. Penny Co. where she worked for 21 years and a 64 year member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Highland Heights.
Preceding her in death were husband, Erwin Flora and five brothers.
Surviving are daughter, Janet Zinser of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Becky Ploeger of Hebron and Rick Zinser of Wilder; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Alexandria Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Interment will be at Grand View Cemetery in Mentor.

Henry Wright, 71, Dry Ridge

Henry C. Wright, 71, of Dry Ridge, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.
He was a farmer and the owner and operator of Wright's Stables, a member of the New Columbus Baptist Church, the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Barrel Horse Association, the Grant County Saddle Club and was active in the Grant County Fair.
Preceding him in death was daughter, Margaret Ann Wright; sister, Frances Alexander; brothers, Delbert, Dave and Bobby Wright.
Surviving are wife, Shirley Wright; sons, Charles Michael (Patsy) Wright, Scotty Wright, Todd Wright and Dale Clifton Wright, all of Dry Ridge; daughters, Rebecca Marie (Tim) Bowen of DeMossville and Cassandra Simpson of Dry Ridge; sister, Elnora Roland of Ninevah, Ind.; brother, Bennie Wright of Dry Ridge and seven grandchildren and was "Pop" to many.
Services were held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the New Columbus Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Summers and Rev. David Wells officiating.
Interment was at the New Columbus Cemetery in Owen County.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

 

Robert Schaber, 75, Alexandria

Robert Charles Schaber, 75, of Alexandria, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at his residence
He served in the Army during Korean Conflict and was a retired meat cutter.

Surviving are wife, JoAnne Virginia (Reiber) Schaber; daughters, Beverly Bockerstette and Kimberly Hedger, both of Alexandria; brothers, Wilbert Schaber of Naples, Fla., Thomas Schaber of Erlanger, Dan Schaber of Alexandria, David Schaber of Crestview, and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Alexandria Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at Saint Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas.
