Cheering fans waving signs lined Main Street Friday evening in downtown Falmouth as a fleet of stretch limos, escorted by Falmouth and Pendleton County fire trucks, transported guests to Broken Arrow Farm for a night of food, laughter, music and dancing for the Night to Shine prom. Night to Shine, started by the Tim Tebow Foundation, is a worldwide recognition and celebratory prom for anyone 14 and older with special needs. The event includes a red carpet walk complete with “paparazzi.” Locally, Night to Shine is sponsored by Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Falmouth, which coordinates the event with a host of church members and other volunteers. According to the Tim Tebow Foundation, formed in 2010, it is estimated that 16% of the world’s population lives with a disability, and often are shut out of the same opportunities as their peers for social events and to feel valued as a part of the life of their local community and of the Church. “TTF is on mission to change the narrative,” the foundation states.
