The Pendleton County Cross Country team took part in a pair of meets last week. Senior Klaber Wolfe was honored at an event in Verona and the team also competed in the Colonel/Thoroughbred All Comers on October 1 in Paris.

The boys’ team placed third, while the girls’ team did not have enough participants to get a team score.

The top scorers for the boys’ team were Klaber Wolfe, who placed seventh with a time of 18:25, Levi Wolfe who placed 20th with a time of 21:08, Ben Brossart who placed 26th with a time of 22:42, Josiah Hurdle who placed 33rd with a time of 25;24, and Kieran Brayton who placed 35th with a time of 26:02 and Issac Mardis with a time of 26.21, placing him 36th overall.  The average team score was 22:44. The Wildcats were edged out by Assumption Academy and Bourbon County.

The top scorers for the girls’ team were Catalina Furman who placed 37th with a time of 27:01 and Aryanna Soden who placed 40th with a time of 27:58. There were 51 participants in the girls’ division. “It was a good course and a pretty day. Almost everyone got a personal record that day, so it was great!” said Soden. “I ran a good race myself, so I was very happy.”

On September 30, Klaber Wolfe competed in the Senior Night at the Walton Verona Sports Complex. The race was 3200 meters. Wolfe placed third behind Jonah Cockrell from Walton Verona and Ian Babel from Bellevue.

The Cross Country team will next compete at the Haunted Woods Classic on October 11 in Buckner.
