Grace Carolyn Carr Ryan, 90

Pendleton Co. — Grace Carolyn Carr Ryan, 90, died peacefully July 24, 2025, at The Seasons of Alexandria.

Grace was born March 10, 1935, in Pendleton County to Clay and Mabel (Wilson) Carr. She was a graduate of Morgan High School and attended Transylvania University.  On October 1, 1955, Grace married Joseph E. Ryan, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage until his death in 2021. She lived nearly her entire life in Pendleton County.

Grace was an active member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church for many years before she and Joe joined Southside Church of Christ. Her church participation included playing the piano during Sunday services for 40 years. She was also heavily involved in operating the food pantry for several years. Grace was employed at Pendleton County High School for many years, primarily overseeing the study hall and working in the office.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, were her daughter-in-law, Ann More Ryan; and brother-in-law, William Felkner.

Surviving her are her children, Sandy (Steve) Thomas, Donna (Tim) Hickerson, Ed (Ellen) Ryan; sister, Marilyn Felkner; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren;  cousin, Harold Carr; and sister-in-law, Elaine Cox.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Celebration Villa, Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice) and the Seasons of Alexandria for their wonderful care of their mom.

Services were held Monday, July 28, 2025, at Peoples Funeral Home, in Butler

Burial took place at Riverside Cemetery.
