Independence — Jon Alan Gosney, 84, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood.
He was born June 4, 1941, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Joseph Gosney and Erma Schweitzer Gosney.
Jon was the owner of Gosney Electric for 40+ years, he retired at the young age of 82. Never met a stranger, he served Christ as a volunteer at St. Paul’s Church, in Newport and he was willing to help anyone in need. Jon was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason and a Shriner.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Jennifer Brookbank; grandson, Sebastian Smoczyk; brother, Bruce; and sister, Joann.
Surviving him are his wife, of 27 years, Anna Lee Burns Gosney; children, Todd, Troy, Tony, Tricia Gosney, Ted, Rick Brookbank, Cathy Leopold, Joanna Maehren; grandchildren, Alex, Adam, Anna, Annie, Analise, Ashley, Ben, Chloe, Connor, Coy, Craig, Crystal, David, Erica, Lauren, Jordan, Joshua, Michelle, Sara, Shannon; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy McGinley.
Per his wishes, there will be no services, with entombment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers or St. Paul Episcopal Church, Newport.
