US VETERAN
Butler — Billy Hendricks Newman, 88, of Butler, passed away May 24, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas.
He was born on July 26, 1936, on a farm near Morgan, to the late William Gilbert Newman and Anna Elizabeth Sargent Newman.
He retired from St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, as a maintenance mechanic after 25 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran, lifetime member of Pendleton County Historical Society, Hardin- Brown Post 109, Butler Lions Club and he was awarded the Kentucky Colonel and Admiral Award. Billy and three of his friends restored the Bethel Church, Butler and went to Frankfort to receive the Ida Lee Willis award for their hard work. He loved car shows, restoring and working on cars and genealogy.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his sister, Alta Mae Newman Cookendorfer Steward; brother, Gilbert Newman Jr.; and half brother, Richard Clay Newman.
Surviving him are his wife, of 61 years, Elizabeth Frances Heath; and daughter, Ginger Gail Newman, of Independence.
Services were held Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Peoples Funeral Home, in Butler.
Burial took place at Riverside Cemetery.
