FAITH & VALUES

Blanket Creek

It was great day to be in the house of the Lord.

Message was from Lamentation’s 3. “God of Mercy, Grace and 2nd chances.”

Jeremiah complained all through this chapter. When things go wrong what do we do? We tend to try and fix it ourselves, which never works. We feel sorry for ourselves and complain that we are always there for others but no one is there for me. God's word stands true. He will never leave us or forsake us. But we have to turn to Him, not ourselves.

Remember the families of Tom Hammons, Della Weaver, Ann Trapp and Betty Dunn.

Have a blessed week.

Bro. Mark’s message was from Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

"I, my and me" appear 16 times in these six verses.  This is an example of what God does for his children. Eternal life is the gift we receive forever.

Our Sunday school hour was a look at the miracle that would begin Jesus’ public ministry. Yes, even school-age children can tell you one of Jesus’ miracles was turning water into wine. The event wasn’t to put focus on the miracle but to reveal His power and glory.

During our morning worship service, we were blessed with a testimony from Warren Farrar. Then Bro. Dale led the children’s message, "Go In Jesus Name," from Luke 10:1-11. Bro. Dale told the kids about Fanny Crossby, a lady born a long time ago, and when very young was sick and a man posing as a doctor treated her and caused the loss of her eyesight. That didn’t stop Fanny, by the time she was 8-years-old she was writing poems, and a lot of her writings were transformed into hymns, one being "To God Be The Glory." We all have a special talent, maybe more than one, instilled in us by God. To discover and learn what talent God has given you it is most important to be discipled and read and study the Bible to discover your talent.
