PCHS academic team competes in regionals

The Pendleton County High School academic team competed at the Governor’s Cup competition Jan. 21 to 25 at Robertson County High School.

The Quick Recall team placed second, and several students placed in the written academic assessments.

In arts and humanities, Autumn Webster took first place, with Rylan Anderson placing fourth.

In language arts, Autumn Webster placed first and Brooke Florer placed fourth.

Social studies honors went to Tanner Morris, first, RJ Combs, second, and Gavin Iles, fourth.

In mathematics, Chase Stayton placed second, with Riley Combs placing fourth.

Science assessment placement was third place, Chase Stayton and fifth place, Riley Combs.

In written competition, Emily Best took third place honors, with Brooke Florer earning fourth place.

Overall, the academic team placed as district runner up.

The team went on to compete at the regional Governor’s Cup competition at Lewis County on February 18 to 22.

Despite the hard work of the team, no one qualified for state.
