Faye Bradford Thornton, 73

Cynthiana — Faye Bradford Thornton, 73, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Cedar Ridge Health Campus.

She was born on November 30, 1951, in Cynthiana, to the late Manville and Ina Sue Lizer Bradford.

Survivors include her sons, Nicholas (Mandy) Denver Thornton, Nathan (Dale) Bradford Thornton; daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Thornton Jenkins, Carman Faye Thornton Ratliff; brothers, Manville Keith Bradford II, Kevin Dell Bradford; sister, Donna (Marshall) Sue Bradford Kearns; grandchildren, Sara (Landon) Elizabeth Palmer, Marly (Jordan) Grace Earlywine, Brock Douglas Jenkins, Abigail Faye Ratliff, Emma Katherine Ratliff, Elizabeth Allen Ratliff, Ivy Denver Thornton, Cale Stephen Thornton, Lily Jane Hamm, Gray Minor Thornton, Conner Riley Ventris, Morgan Lily Ventris; great-grandchildren, Levi Ray Palmer, Falynn Elizabeth Palmer, Owen Douglas Palmer and Archie Clay Earlywine.

Faye was an educator for a span of 30 years. She worked to mold the lives of many students while she fulfilled many roles. She served as a typing teacher, varsity cheer leading coach, a guidance counselor, athletic director and assistant principal. Also, she served as secretary for KHSADA and was a national faculty teacher for the NIAAA (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association). Faye retired from the Pendleton County Board of Education. She was so proud of her many accolades. Faye was awarded the 2005 Thomas E. Frederick Award of Excellence for her strong leadership in educational based athletics, loyalty to the association and contributions to the profession of athletic administration. She was also a 2019 NIAAA Hall of Fame inductee. Faye had many other prestigious honors and awards for her role in leadership as a member of Kentucky High School Athletic Directors Association.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Ware Funeral Home, in Cynthiana. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, January 8, at 11 a.m. also at Ware Funeral Home.

Warren French will preside services and burial will follow at Battle Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the family will be Brock Jenkins, Landon Palmer, Ben Furnish, Jacob Bradford, Jordan Earlywine, Joe Bradford, Cale Thornton and Gray Thornton; honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Kearns and Conner Ventris.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1317 US Hwy 62 W, Cynthiana, KY 41031.
