The Pendleton County Wildcats improved to 2-2 on the season as they defeated Gallatin County 21-6 on September 14 in Owen County.
Pendleton would go ahead early on their first drive 7-0. Gallatin County would follow that up with a good drive of their own punching in a touchdown to make it 7-6. The defense would play strong all game from there not allowing another score. The Wildcats offense would take a little while to get going but turned it on in the second half. Copper Clark would lead the way on offense for the Wildcats with one rushing and one receiving touchdown. Quarterback Elijah Barhorst had 15 completions for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Hannah led the rushing attack with 67 yards while Clark finished with 33 yards on the ground and a team-best 52 yards receiving.
On the defensive side, Keegan Barhorst came with a big interception and Anthony Gilbert put together a massive game collecting 13 including three tackles for a loss. Jonathan Redden finished with seven tackles and Tyler Redden and Dawsyn Wright eacxh added six tackles apiece.
"We dominated the game from start to finish especially defensively. Our defense only allowed one drive where Gallatin County crossed the 40-yard line. Offensively, we struggled a little to start the game but at halftime we just talked about continuing to trust the process of what we have been doing, and relaxing a little and remembering that football is supposed to be fun. After that, we calmed down and went onto score 14 unanswered points. That tells me that our best is still ahead of us," said Wildcats first year head coach, Jaegger Graham.
Pendleton County will be back in action on September 20 when they travel to face Nicholas County. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
