The Pendleton County Ladycats picked up two wins in three games last week as they defeated Gallatin County and St. Patrick.
The girls traveled to Gallatin County on August 21 and got their first win on the road 5-1. The sophomore goalie Aubrey Record had eight saves allowing only one goal into the net. Seniors Sarah Blackaby and Logan Cooper scored two goals each. Freshman Kinly Cooper scored one goal and also had an assist. Senior Addison Wright had one assist. Team head coach Johnny Trenkamp was very happy with how the team worked, passed and talked together in the game.
On August 21, it was a tough loss on the road against Boone County with the final score being 2-0. The Ladycats got some shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Coach Trenkamp spoke highly of the Ladycat defense. They were working hard as the sophomore goalie Aubrey Record kept the Ladycats in the game by recording 20 saves.
The Ladycats played host on the new turf field and recorded their first home game win of the season against St. Patrick 2-1. The game was a battle during the first half as St. Patrick scored with five minutes before halftime. Pendleton County came back in the second half and worked hard as freshman Kinly Cooper had a run and scored the goal making the score 2-1. The Ladycats kept pushing and freshman London Johnson got fouled in the goal box giving Pendleton County the advantage of a penalty kick. Kinly Cooper took the kick and scored putting the Ladycats up 2-1, and that would be enough for get the win. Sophomore Aubrey Record recorded five saves on goal. Up next for the Ladycats will be a August 28 home contest versus Montgomery County.
