FORT MITCHELL — Dr. Phillip Sharp and his wife, Ann, of Newton, Massachusetts, returned to Northern Kentucky on July 26 to host their annual dinner for the Pendleton High School Class of 1962 and the Sharp Family Scholarship recipients at the Greyhound Restaurant, Fort Mitchell.

This spring, Dr. Sharp was honored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his 50 years of service as an institute professor.

Recently retired, the Pendleton County native continues to serve on many boards and participates in speaking engagements.

Since their inception in 2012, the scholarships have been awarded to Pendleton High School graduating seniors pursing a four-year degree in the areas of science, engineering, mathematics, medicine, health or a related area.

The scholarships are coordinated through the Pendleton County Education Foundation and to date, 27 students have been recipients.

Many of the former recipients attended this year’s dinner, where they enjoyed a time of fellowship with Dr. and Mrs. Sharp, current college students and those recipients now in established careers.
