Pendleton County Judge Executive Don Mays conducted the official swear in of Chief Deputy Bonnie Monroe as Pendleton County Clerk. Mrs. Monroe will be the county clerk due to the sudden death of Carol Ockerman.
Dale E. Beighle to speak at commencement exercises. He is currently a professor of animal health at the University of the Northwest and acting dean of the school of agriculture. Dale is a native of Pendleton County and a 1964 graduate of Pendleton Memorial High School.
Falmouth’s Second Annual Hot Wax Weekend Car Show set for June 1. Charlie Napier will be the DJ. He will play music from the 50’s and 60’s and will provide a hariety of car show games. Also new this year will be a variety show entitled, “Rock Roll and Remember” It will be great music and costumes that will span the decades. It is being performed by a talented group from Cleves, Ohio.
The annual Daniel Boone Run for Statehood will start at 8 a.m. on June 8 in Falmouth. The Half Marathon (13.1miles) will start at 8 a.m.: the one mile Fun Run will start at 8:05 a.m. and the 5K Run (3.1 miles) starts at 8:15 a.m. The half marathon pays $500.00 to the winner.
Pendleton County Homecoming Day Parade set for June 29. This year’s theme is “Hometown USA” in honor of our newly developed organization, Downtown Falmouth Inc., and the olympics.
On April 5, Ms. Clark’s and Ms. Hoskin’s fourth grade classes held a surprise farewell pizza party for Mrs. Tammy Dicken. Mrs. Dicken held the Instruction Writing/ Aide position at Northern Elementary for five years. She said she will miss her students as she moves to a position at the Butler Fifth Third Bank.

Steve Crotty of Pendleton High School won the discus throw at Boone County Friday in the Class A Regional Field Meet.
Mrs. Genevieve Shonert of Falmouth has joined The Falmouth Outlook news staff and is now assisting with the publication of the paper. She is the daughter of Publisher and Mrs. Warren Shonert.
It’s official! Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Conrad’s beautiful new suburban subdivision, located about two miles south of Falmouth, has been named “Oakhaven Estates.” This very wonderful name was selected by the many entries submitted to the judges and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad were notified Monday afternoon. The winning entry was submitted by Steve W. Roberts of Wilson Street, Falmouth, and he is awarded a $25 savings bond.
Mrs. Maude Smith, daughter of the late John W. and Nancy Asbury Smith, was born in Pendleton County on August 18, 1883 and passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 1971. Her age at the time of her passing was 87 years, eight months, and 23 days.
75 Years Ago - May 1946
The Falmouth baseball nine journeyed to Carlisle on Sunday afternoon and defeated that team by the score of 9 to 2. On the mound for Falmouth was Everett Cordray and on the receiving end was Paul Thornberry. J. Junt pitched for Carlisle and W. Fryman caught. The sparkplugs of the Falmouth team on offensive were Matt Hesler, Everett Cordray and W. G. Klee.
William Howard Perkins was born in Harrison County on February 18, 1889, and departed this life suddenly while attending the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4, 1946.
George W. Cummins , aged 80 years, Spanish American War veteran, Elsmere, died Monday, May 6, 1946.
Three Pendleton County men have been inducted into the U. S. Army, according to a report made Monday by the Pendleton County Draft Board No. 134. The men, who left on May 7 were Roscoe Smith Perrin, John Newton Wagner and Edward Earl King.

Willie Faulhaber killed a hen hawk a few days ago that measured 53 1/2 inches from tip to tip of its wings.
James A. Whalen of near Sunrise is wearing the blandest smile imaginable since last Wednesday afternoon a 10 lb. son arrived to coo at mother and to cheer its parents, and Mr. Whalen is as happy as a lark in hay time.
Born to the wife of Percy Fryer of near Butler on May 7, a fine 9 lb. son. The little man has been named Preston Blades. This is the second heir.
William R. Rees, well known and highly esteemed citizen, died Friday morning, May 13, at the home of his son, David W. Rees, near Lenoxburg.
