Kincaid Bassmaster’s 10th Annual Kid’s Fishing Tournament draws 214 children. Josh Whaley was awarded the trohy for biggest fish with a catfish weighing in at 1.28 pounds.

Kincaid Regional Theatre set to open this week with “Annie”. Falmouth resident Ron Bupp has come out of retirement to play the role of Oliver Warbucks. He retired two years ago after his role in “The King and I”.

The Mr. Pendleton County Contest will be staged during the Pendleton County Youth Fair on Friday evening July 19. Young men between 16-22, must be a resident of Pendleton County, must be single, never married, and have no children in order to compete.
Daniel Boone Run for Statehood winners are Jason Craig placed second for 18 and under, Ricky Brock placed first for 18-24, and Joey Galloway placed first overall in 5K. Mallory Wolfe placed third in 30-34 for women in half marathon. Tony Wolfe was the first Pendleton man in half marathon. Marchetta Perkins placed second overall in the 5K race. Jenny Neace placed second under 18 years in the 5K and Annie Bertram placed first overall in the 5K and she also broke the record for the under 18 age.

Congratulations to the First National Bank of Falmouth which celebrated its 50th anniversary this week.
Highway Commissioner B. E. King announced a road improvement project for KY 17 and KY 467 in Pendleton County. The expected completion date of these projects is the winter of 1974.

A number of citizens in this area have requested that the city of Butler proceed with annexation for the purpose of extending city services starting at the center line of the Butler bridge continuing through East Side Park to 500 feet east of U. S. 27 and south to center line of bridge crossing Licking River and north to to Lick Creek on U. S. 27.

Since the last rain ceased tillage is in full blast. Tobacco is mostly set, corn and other crops planted and some are still making gardens.
The tobacco growers of Pendleton County have only transplanted about 50 percent of the tobacco crop up to this date, June 14. Plants are about exhausted and many of our farmers are securing plants from their more fortunate neighbors or going to Central Kentucky to purchase them.
Pfc. Gordon Miles returned home May 13 after serving 18 months in the European theater of war with the Post Engineers Co. 135.
In a close game Sunday afternoon at the Falmouth School grounds, Falmouth baseball nine continued its winning streak by defeating Sunrise of Harrison County 7-6. There were about 250 fans in attendance.
Rev. William H. Crain, son of the late Richard M. and Elizabeth Carron Crain, was born in Wolfe County on January 25, 1854. He came to Pendleton County with his parents on December 23, 1864 while he was here yet a young boy, living at Flour Creek near Butler. He passed away June 2, 1946 at Wesley Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.
100 years ago June 1921
The First National Bank of Falmouth was formally opened for business Wednesday. Music, flowers and good cheer marked the beginning of a bright future.
Prof. D. H. Norris of this county has been electedsuperintendent of the Berry Graded and High School to succeed Miss Hervey Robertson.
An election was held last Saturday at Locust Grove in the southwestern section of the county, to take the sense of the voters in the school districts of Locust Grove, Hog Ridge, Carm, Roanoke and Rountop in Grant County on the proposition to establish a consolidated school. The vote resulted 208 against 62 for the consolidation.
Jack Crawford, familiary known as “Uncle Jack” passed away Sunday morning at his home on Railroad Avenue.
Z. H. Mullins, aged 80 years, passed away at his home in Griggville on May 18. Mr. Mullins was a native of Butler.
One of the sweetest Christian characters we ever knew passed over the valley of the shadow of death on May 18, 1921, when Mrs. Rosie Stroub, devoyed gentle wife of William Stroub, was called to her heavenly reward.
