A fourplex is being built by the Falmouth Housing Authority on recently purchased land beside Bonar Village. Ms. Lisa Greene, the director of the housing authority, says the preliminary work on the land necessary for building the units has been completed.
50 Years Ago - May 4, 1973
The Pendleton County Hospital is going along well this week. The hospital was reported full Saturday and some patients were reported in the hallways. The hospital board took applications for administrator through Tuesday, May 1, and will open them May 3 or 4, Rosco Wells, hospital board president, said.
Jeffrey Metger, All-American Boy of the 1972 National Teen Convention of Springfield, Ill., will be guest speaker this Sunday morning at the Oakland Christian Church.
75 Years Ago - April 30, 1948
An interesting baseball game developed Monday afternoon at Brooksville when the Falmouth High nine avenged an earlier defeat in the season and handed for Polar Bears a 5 to 2 setback.
Falmouth’s water supply is all right, City Clerk F. T.Chimpan has been advised by the State Health Board. MR. Chipman took samples of the city’s water at the city hall and at the Falmouth Post Office, and the State Health Board advises that it is in perfect condition.
Police Chief John Adams reports that 93 motorists were cautioned last week about double-parking. It was not the intention of the city council or the police department to cause the public any inconvenience, but only to keep the streets open to traffic.
Another property owner, A Schumaker, has signed his deed for the new spur into Falmouth. This leaves four deeds yet to be signed the city.
When you wake up Sunday morning about 8 o’clock and hear a loud noise, you will know it is the Dawn Patrol coming to the Falmouth Airport. Clarence Rice, president of the local NAA, announces that about 54 planes are coming to Falmouth from Georgetown, Lexington, Paris, Cynthiana, Williamstown, Boone County, Warsaw, and Southern Indiana airports.
Sheriff Alvin Thompson and deputy Clarence Aulick too two youths...to the reform school in Greendale on Friday. They had been brought before Judge Early Cummins on a charge of breaking into the Coca-Cola plant on West Shelby St. in Falmouth and stealing a pistol, 12 boxes of .22 cartridge, and $8 or $10 in money.
100 Years Ago - May 4, 1923
The Falmouth High School baseball team journeyed to Paris last Thursday and was defeated by the high school team of that city in a score of 13 to 9. this was the first game that our boys played this season while Paris had won five straight games from neighboring high school teams.
All persons who have purchased stock in the Pendleton County Burley Tobacco company of Falmouth, Ky., Inc, since the original stock issue, are hereby notified to have the same property transferred on the books of the Company as we are preparing to make a distribution.
The Woman’s Club met in regular monthly session at the Presbyterian church Tuesday evening, April 24, for the purpose of electing officers. Both departments of the club were present.
The lamb crop in Pendleton County is a large one this spring. Sheep growers have had remarkably good luck with their lambs, but a large percent of them are late, but appear very thrifty. Pasture is very late, and up until this week the fields have scarcely shown any green.
A most enjoyable day was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas Caldwell Sunday, April 29, 1923, when the children all came home to surprise their father.
