The Department of Local Government told fiscal court members March 11 in so many words that the jail project is locked up until the court goes back through DLG filing a letter of interest, has certified appraisals on property purchased for jail project and can show the DLG where the revenue will come from to pay for the new jail.

The results of the census taken here in Falmouth were announced at the Falmouth City Council meeting Monday night, with it being revealed that the grand total was 2,215.
The old fiddlers contest, which is being sponsored by the senior class of Morgan high School, is going to be one of the biggest events that has been in the community in years.
A home occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sullivan of near Greenwood, burned to the ground late Friday as well as a garage and smokehouse with the loss being estimated at $8,000.
Mrs. William Wellman was displaying a large hen egg Saturday which one of her hens laid last Friday at her home on East Shelby Street in this city.
100 Years Ago - March 17, 1923
F. L. Aulick sold his farm of 193 and three-quarters acres situated on the Falmouth and Independence Pike ten miles north of Falmouth at public auction last Thursday.
About 12 Sunday night, a young tornado passed over the eastern part of the county. Houses were lifted off their foundation, roofs blown off, barns blown down, and many damaged, a number of garages were destroyed and machines, fences, telephone poles, and fruit trees damaged.
