Falmouth City Council approved a proposal to use the empty lot behind Movie Gallery as a weekly farmers’ market. The market plans to be open from 8 a.m. until sold out on Saturdays from the beginning of May until the first of November.
Council also approved a request by Herron Vault Co., located near Southern Elementary School, to use a buyout lot adjacent to their business for storage of burial vaults.

Pendleton County 4-H and Extension Services crowned new royalty at the Clover Classic Festival.
Kelsey Brewer was crowned Tiny Miss. Kyla Bass received first runner-up and prettiest eyes.
Cody Hanser was crowned Tiny Mister, prettiest smile and best fashion.
Michelle Plummer was crowned Little Miss and received best fashion.
Kenzie Leap was crowned Little Mister and received prettiest hair, best fashion and best model.
Tristan Hundley was crowned Miss Preteen, and received prettiest hair and best model.
Christina Jeans was crowned Miss Teen, and received prettiest hair and best model.
Cheryl French was crowned Miss Clover Classic and received pettiest eyes and best fashion. Laura Browning received first runner-up, prettiest smile and photogenic. Brandy Jones received second runner-up and prettiest hair. Finalist Miranda Jeans received best model.
50 Years Ago - May 16, 1975
New officers of Hardin-Brownin Post 109, American Legion, were sworn into office May 9. Officers for 1975-76 are:
Charles Kenner, commander; Kenzie Ammerman, first vice chair; Larry Bishop, second vice chair; Carl Budde, adjutant; Billy Cummins, fiance officer; Parker Wyatt, chaplain; Randall Wright, sergeant at arms; Ross Lonaker, assistant sergeant at arms; Charles Habermehl, service officer; and Charles LaFollette, publicity.

The annual Future Homemakers of America Mother-Daughter Buffet was held May 8at Pendleton County High School.
Daisy King, FHA president, presided over the program, which followed a delicious dinner.
Karen Hart was installed as the new FHA president for 1975-76.
Mary Ann Klee gave a FHA report that said the Pendleton unit had 117 active members, and that in the past year, the Pendleton FHA won first prize at the Pendleton Youth Fair parade, achieved two regional officers, raised $417 in the arthritis drive, had a FHA picnic, sold popcorn at the basketball games and held the mentally disabled program.

About 10 members of the Falmouth Fire Department were shown how to operate the city’s new fire truck Sunday afternoon by a representative from the factory at Columbus, Ohio.
The local firefighters have just placed 1,800 feet of new hose on the new bright yellow truck and they now know how to operate the truck and big pumper.
The truck will be used in the city of Falmouth only, and will go on the next fire run.
Falmouth now has two other fire trucks, a total of three, and one of those may be stored in the city’s building in West Falmouth.
This give Falmouth one of the best equipped fire departments in Kentucky for a city of its size.
75 Years Ago - May 19, 1950
Plans are being formulated to received the exact replica of the Liberty Bell in Falmouth of May 29.
The bell is being brought here in connection with the U.S. Government Liberty Bond Drive that opened over the nation on Monday.
The bell will be taken to the front yard of the Pendleton County Courthouse. Any organization that would like to be recognized from the truck platform on which the bell is mounted is asked to contact Warren J. Shonert, bond chairman for Pendleton County.

Dr. Conway Boatman, president of Union College, will deliver the commence address to the 20 graduating seniors at Falmouth High School on May 18.
Gordie Young, assistant state superintendent of education, will be the principal speaker at Morgan High School the same night, when 20 seniors receive their diplomas.
And at Butler High School on May 17, Dr. William D. Chilton of the state Department of Education will deliver the main address to the 17 graduates.

The Falmouth baseball team has acquired a new pitcher, Archie Pierce of Cynthiana. Manager Bill Cordray signed young Pierce to a contract Monay and he will report for his first game May 21 when the locals play the Bavarian Beer team a the Falmouth Fairgrounds.
Pierce is known as a submarine pitcher and has a good pitching record.
Falmouth played Boone County Vets Sunday and lost 15-3.
100 Years Ago - May 15, 1925
The Lucas Realty Co. of Covington sold the 27-acre tract of suburban land opposite the Falmouth Fairgrounds belong to William Frazier at public auction for a total $16,400.
The plot of land was subdivided into 240 25-foot lots or 120 full lots of 50 feet by 150 feet. The lots brought from $50 to $215.
Mr. Frazier refused a $20,000 offer for the land the morning of the sale.
More than 4,000 people attended the sale.

Tobacco growers who are members of the Cooperative Association will received $10 million on the 1923 crop on or about June 1. With this payment, a total of $31 million will have been paid tobacco growers since Jan. 1.
Almost the entire membership of farmers, bankers and businessmen will share in this distribution through the Burley Cooperative.
