As the Pendleton County School Board met for the last time in 2022, they ended with a bang.

One category on the agenda is entitled “Great News,” and it certainly did not disappoint. Several Sharp Middle School students and their parents were present to be recognized for their great accomplishments at the FCCLA Leadership Conference they took part in. The students were recognized in the categories of Math skills, Nutrition skills, FCCLA knowledge skills and Consumer Math skills. Each student received a gift from the school board and were congratulated for their achievements. Those students were Ellie and Brody Nichols, Madeline Quinn, Jackson Jacobs, Deanna Due, and Chase Stratton.

During the board member comments time, the students were thanked for their dedication and for the great job they do in representing the school. Their parents were also thanked for having confidence in Mrs. Cindy Cummins, and Cummins was acknowledged for believing her students were able to do well.

School board member Mrs. Karen Delaney took a moment to recognize the retired teachers’ organization in the county. Delaney stated that the retired teachers are a very giving group and, with the help of others, they were able to help about 100 families this Christmas season.

The 2022-2023 Comprehensive District Improvement Plan was passed, as was the 2022-2023 Board of Education meeting schedule. Six of the dates will remain on the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m., while the other six will be announced due to holidays and other conflicts.

The Board then went into executive session and the meeting was adjourned. The next school board meeting will be on January 16, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Sharp Middle School in the District Training Room on the second floor.
