Greetings friends, praying for all of you.

We were so pleased to have our dear friend, Ron Redden and wife Judy with us on Sunday. Ron spoke to us about weeds in the wheat, and left us to ponder are we weeds or are we wheat?

Thanks Ron, we love having you here!

It’s V.B.S. week kiddos! Come out each evening between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to hear about The Great Outdoors.

August 6 will be our next board meeting and pot luck dinner.

The ladies will be meeting on August 11, this is a week earlier than usual.

Please lift up those in our concerns this week, Daryl Mullins, Shelia’s dad, Patty Wright, Carolyn’s brother, Dustin and his mom, Mike Eckerle, Cal Adams, Laura, our church, and our world.

God Bless each and everyone reading this.

Mt. Gilead

Service is held on the third Sunday of the month. August 20 at 2 p.m. Come join us at the little church on the hill.

Bro. Kevin has been talking about a "Daniel Fast" which we do plan to do for 40 days.  A "Daniel Fast" is a partial fast designed to replace certain foods to gain spiritual strength and experience spiritual breakthrough.  Fasting is about the heart, not the food.

August 10 is the next meeting of the Ladies Fellowship Group at Connie Bowlings, 6:30 p.m.  Ladies are always invited.

A Baby/Child Dedication service will be held on August 27.

Prayer concerns include Lisa Blevins, Pam Bruin, Greg Ramsey, David Montgomery, Gary Bruin, Lily McCann, Dan Holley, Jim McIntosh, Jimmy Gregg, Diane Moorhead, Beth Bruin, Kenni King, shut-ins, cancer issues, and our nation.

Our sympathy goes to loved ones of Judy Marksberry, Lena Caswell, and Genevieve Ammerman.

Bro. Mark’s message was from Ephesians 6:10-20.

How much power do we stand against the devil?  We need to put on the whole armor of God. God tells us we need to do this. Just as you get up each day and put clothes on, put that armor on. You need a strong belt of truth and breastplate of Gods approval. Shoes that are able to speed you to spread the Good News of God. Faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows Satan aims at you. Helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God.

Pray for yourself and others. God will hear and answer those prayers if it’s meant to be. Never retreat from the devil!

Sunday school is at 10 a.m.; there’s a class for everyone! Last Sunday’s adult lesson - Set Apart by Christ, from Romans 6 gave insight into how we should be living our best life for Christ. How would your life change if you really lived as if your eternal life has already begun?

In the morning service we heard from those that had been gone on the mission trip to Western Kentucky. They returned to the same place as last year and continued work from the devastation of tornadoes.

Kiersten Beighle read scripture and Art Wiggins brought special music. Bro. Dale read Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  This verse encourages us to persevere, that’s what those on the mission trip were doing; helping those affected by the bad weather – persevere. There is joy in service, find someone or some way you can be of service.
