Butler Christ Community

Greetings friends, did you notice our new name? Yes, we have changed our name. We are no longer a United Methodist Church, it becomes official on July 1st.

The Butler Community churches are working together to have a VBS, hopefully more info to follow!

Mark Kyle gave a touching testimony on Sunday; we are thankful that he followed God's instructions!

Jesus came with a mission, to carry out God's will. Our mission is to share the Good News.

Please pray for Rob Kerlin (tractor accident), the Mayes family in sister’s passing, Carol's biopsy,  Carolyn recuperating from fall, Kenzie Masten, Phil Fookes, DD Tolliver, our church, and our world.

God bless and keep you in His love.

Mt. Gilead

Service is held on the third Sunday of the month. Our next service will be July 16 at 2 p.m.

Oakland

We pray you honored your dads and especially our Heavenly Father this past Sunday. We thank the Reachin' Out Class for their program honoring our fathers.

Bro. Kevin's message of the morning reminded us that a measure of a father is in what he reflects -- is it the world or God's way?

We rejoice in the recent baptism of Roger Moore.  May God bless his life.

Our Vacation Bible School is underway, 6-8 p.m. with the theme "Babylon". If you need a ride, you can call 859-654-6174 and leave a message.

Dulce Life Group meets July 5, 6:30 p.m.

July 2 is a "grill out" and potluck at 6 p.m. with fun, food, and fellowship!

Prayer concerns include Bobby Johnson, Ruth Ann Cummins, Larry and Jenny Wright, Charley and Dorothy Herron, Gerald Barlow (home), Derinda Abercrombie, Steve Jenkins, Jimmy Gregg, Kenni King, Norma Wilson, Bonnie Kavanaugh, Leonard Price, Diane Moorhead, Tony Bruin, Carolyn Ammerman, Linda Pettit Powell, Patty Thomas, shut-ins, and our nation and its military.

Pleasant Ridge

Bro. Mark’s message was from Matthew 12:1-15.

Jesus was walking through grain fields with his disciples on the Sabbath.  They were hungry so they plucked off the heads of wheat and ate. The Pharisees saw them and said they are breaking the law by harvesting on the Sabbath. Jesus said the priests on duty in the Temple may work on the Sabbath and truly who is greater than the Temple? For I, the Messiah am master even of the Sabbath.  The Pharisees asked is it legal to work by healing on the Sabbath? The Pharisees was hoping to arrest Jesus by saying yes I would heal on the Sabbath. Jesus answered, if you had just one sheep and it fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn’t you work to rescue it that day? Of course you would.

Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath day? Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath!

Trinity

Trinity dove into Colossians today, “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.”

Turner Ridge

The first question in our Sunday school lesson last week was “What is something you learned through failure?” Haven’t we all been there? In the lesson from 1 Samuel, chapters two and three, it told how Eli failed to instruct and discipline his own sons, but God gave him a second chance with Samuel.

Our loving God gives us many chances, He never moves, if we don’t have a close relationship with God, its not His fault, its ours, we aren’t making the choices that keep us close to Him. Join us for Sunday school and allow both your knowledge of the bible and your relationship with God to grow!

In the morning worship service we recognized our fathers and Bro. Dale had prayer over them. Then we were blessed with a special from Perry Gregg on the violin, Sweet Hour of Prayer. The children’s message talked about Joseph, not only was he a good leader, but a good father. Callie Seedle read Ephesians 6:1-4, the praise team sang I’ve Witnessed, and Bro. Dale brought the message from Psalm 78:5-7.
