A bright June day on the rolling green hills of northern Pendleton County turned grave last week when emergency responders were called to the scene of a fatal farming accident in Butler.

A Falmouth woman was fortunate to escape serious injury after her car left the roadway and struck several trees in a one-vehicle accident around 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 21 on Highway 1054.

The Falmouth Police Department has gone through many transitions in the past month, and the latest is the addition of a new assistant police chief.

Jim Bussman is in his third week as Falmouth’s new assistant police chief. He said it’s still early, but so far, so good.

The Pendleton County School Board is very pleased to have Shannon Carey, daughter of Susan Clark, as their new student representative. Carey is a delightful young student. She and her mother moved to Pendleton County from Newport, Ky., while Carey was still in elementary school.
