New requirements for student/athlete physicals Print E-mail

Kentucky High School Athletic Association requires valid physicals for any student/athlete participating in athletics from 6th grade through arsity level with a change for the middle school age level.

A student/athlete playing for Sharp must have a MS physical form that is downloadable at http://www.pendleton.kyschools.us/docs/MS%20phsyical.pdf.  This covers only play at the MS level of competition.  You can also visit www.pendleton.kyschools.us and click on Athletics link then the Forms link looking for the Sharp MS Physical Form.  This covers only play at the MS level of competition.

A Sharp student/athlete playing for a PCHS athletic team MUST have a HS physical form that is downloadable at http://www.pendleton.kyschools.us/docs/Physical%20Examination%202013%2014.pdf.  You can also visit www.pendleton.kyschools.us and click on Athletics link then the Forms link looking for the High School Physical Form.  This covers only play at the HS level of competition.

A Sharp student/athlete that will play both at the MS and the HS level will have to have both physical forms completed per new KHSAA guidelines.

Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Golf Scramble on Wednesday, July 30 at Kincaid Lake State Park. You must RSVP by July 28. Registration and lunch begins at noon. Shot gun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $60 per player an includes green fees, cart rental, and soft drinks.

The function of the Golf Scramble has several purposes: fundraiser for the Chamber, the opportunity to fraternize with other business people, provide the business community with a day of relaxation and fun, chance to win cash and prizes while taking time off from work, opportunity to educate board members on the unique aspects of business and how the Chamber might be of assistance.

Hole sponsorship is $50 per hole.

Wildcats Football preparing for new district Print E-mail

While the new district alignment does not come into effect until the 2015 season, the Wildcat Football program is working hard to not only join district play but announce they are ready to compete for a district title.

Sharp Middle School Football will hold conditioning and collection of paperwork on Monday, July 14 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sharp Middle School. Practices/tryouts begin on Tuesday, July 15 through Thursday, July 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Sharp Middle School.

Wildcat Football for PCHS will practice starting on Tuesday night at Falmouth School Center from 6-9 p.m. The team travels to Grant County on Wednesday morning for 7 on 7 competition, off Thursday and then host 7 on 7 competition at Veteran’s Field at Sharp MS on Friday night.  For more information/questions, contact Terry.Brown@pendleton.kyschools.us.

 
Pendleton County Volleyball program to start Print E-mail

Both the Pendleton County High School and Phillip Sharp Volleyball teams are ready to start their season and get ready to make another run in post season.

Sharp Volleyball will begin their season with tryouts/practices on Monday, July 21 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Sharp Middle School gym. They will continue that first week with practices. For more information please contact coach Maegan Gosney at maeganlayne222@gmail.com

July 15 is the start of High School Fall Sports practices in Kentucky and Ladycat Volleyball will hold tryouts/practice starting Tuesday, July 15 at 8 a.m.- 12 p.m. in the Pendleton County High School main gym. Tryouts/practice will continue on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday each morning.

Pendleton soccer teams ready to kickoff season Print E-mail

Pendleton County High School Wildcat Soccer Alum Aaron Harper returns to head the Wildcat Soccer program along with JV coach Ryan Sergent. Both have loads of playing and coaching experience and will not only be great coaches but positive role models for Wildcat soccer players.  Wildcat Soccer practice/tryouts begin on Tuesday, July 15 at soccer practice fields in front of Southern Elementary from 7-9 a.m. for a morning session.

Evening sessions for practice/tryouts will be 7-9 p.m. Two-a-days will last throughout the tryout week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Fri. If you have any questions/information contact coach Harper at acharper345@gmail.com

Ladycat Soccer kicks off their 2014 campaign for a district title with conditioning at PCHS on Monday, July 14 8-11 a.m. Tryouts start on Tuesday, July 15 at Southern Soccer Practice Fields from 8-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each player needs to have cleats, shin guards, ball and water bottle.

Eddie Wright Memorial Scholarship fundraisers Print E-mail

The first annual Eddie Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund Cornhole Tournament will be held on Friday, August 1 at the Southern Elementary ball fields. Entry fee is $5 per person and winners will split the pot. Drawing for teams starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the tournament.

The Eddie Wright Memorial Men’s Softball Tournament will be held August 2-3 (depending on the number of teams) at the big field by Southern Elementary in Falmouth. The entry fee is $200 per team and includes umpire’s fees. It is a double elimination tournament and you will hit your own 44 core balls.

Cross Country start run to KHSAA State Meet Print E-mail

The Ladycat and Wildcat Cross Country teams have been very successful programs with numerous individual and team appearances in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet. Both Cross Country teams practice together under the successful tutelage of varsity coach Marcia Hatfield. They will start their 2014 season on Tuesday, July 15, then continue on Wednesday and Thursday on their home course at Sharp Middle School from 7-8:30 p.m. On Saturday, they will be at Kincaid from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Marcia.Hatfield@Pendleton.kyschools.us.

PCEF Golf Scramble to be held on August 5 Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Education Foundation will have its 20th annual golf scramble at Pendleton Country Club on Tuesday, August 5. It’s not too early for you to make plans to participate in this event.

Piles Chevrolet, Olds, Buick Inc. of Williamstown will again sponsor a hole-in-one contest. Local businesses or individuals will sponsor contests for men’s longest drive, women’s longest drive, longest made putt, and three closest to the pin. In addition, the top three scoring teams will receive prize money of $400, $300, and $200.

PCEF is a private, non-profit organization whose main purpose is to provide scholarships to graduating Pendleton County seniors. PCEF also helps fund the character education programs of the four county schools and other special events.

The golf scramble is PCEF’s only fundraiser so your support of this event is important and greatly appreciated. Cost of the scramble is $60 per player.
