Wildcat golf just misses

With a good start, the Wildcats team started out strong and Senior Lane Weaver went birdie-par to begin their quest for a state tournament appearance. But an approximate 3-hour rain delay changed the course conditions and drained some of the momentum the Cats had teed off with.

Sharp Wildcats defeat Holy Cross

On Saturday night, Pendleton County fans were treated to two entertaining middle school football games as Sharp played host to the Tichenor Trojans and Newport Central Catholic Game and squared off against Holy Cross in the night cap. Both games had playoff implications.

Tichenor and Newport Catholic were both 6-0 entering the game and Tichenor ended up defeating Newport Catholic 27-14 to remain undefeated. It was a well played game between two very good teams.

At 7:30 Sharp took the field against Holy Cross in a must win for playoff consideration following the Cats heartbreaking loss to Walton 26-24 the week before.

Cross Country successful on home course

The Pendleton County Cross Country teams hosted eighteen schools on their home course on Saturday, September 29th. The rains throughout last week made for a wet and muddy course, however, many of the Wildcat runners did a great job. Lots of medals ended up around the necks of Pendleton County's runners.

Wildcats lose to Covington Catholic

The Pendleton County High School Wildcats football team lost on the road to Covington Catholic 70-0 last Saturday, September 29.

"Covington Catholic is a great team that is very well coached," Wildcat head coach Terry Brown said. "They play hard on both side of the ball, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go far in the playoffs."

Cross Country performs well at Scott

The boys and girls middle and high school teams traveled to the Scott Eagle Classic on Saturday, September 22. Boys Varsity gave a stellar performance with every member of the team achieving times under 20 minutes. Montgomery Franxman medaled with an eighth place finish and a new PR time of 17:14.

Sports pep rally successful at Pendleton County High School

Pendleton County High School held a pep rally in the high school gymnasium last Friday, September 28. PCHS was recognizing their fall sports athletes and their accomplishments this year. The students really enjoy these pep rallies, and it gives them a chance to cheer for the teams and sit with their respective classes.

Youth football players and cheerleaders held a food drive

The Pendleton County Recreational football players and cheerleaders held a food drive in front of Wyatt's SuperValu, the Butler Market, the Dollar Store in Falmouth, and the Dollar Store in Grants Lick on September 15. Over 1,000 non-perishable food items were collected for the Pendelton County Cooperative of Churches Emergency Food Pantry at St. Vincent DePaul, who indicated that this is the largest donation ever made at a single time.

Ladycat golfers, Miles and Hart make it to State

Six years ago, no Ladycat Golfer had ever qualified for the state tournament.  That year, 2007, saw the Ladycats make their first and only team appearance with a second place finish.

Watching as a JV member of the Ladycats was seventh grader Maggie Miles.

Watching her older sister, Haley, who was a member of the Varsity team was Holley Hart, a JV Ladycat member.

Fast forward to last Monday and you had Maggie and Holley grabbing two of the four individual qualifying spots for the KHSAA State Tournament.  That brings the total to one team (five spots) and 11 individual spots for the Ladycat Golf program over the past six years.

Midgets dropped to 2-3 with loss on last Sunday

The Midgets dropped to 2-3 with their loss on Sunday.  The team got out of the gate slow but played a solid second half.  The slow start may have been attributed to the youngsters first experience with artificial turf! Even after the game, several kids were still asking, ‘Is this real grass?’

The lone touchdown came from a 61 yard run by Ethan Verst who benefited from solid blocking by his team.  The offensive line was led by Landon Gravett who had an excellent game blocking up front.
