Celebrate the food and people of Kentucky’s Farmers’ Markets

Kentucky consumers can buy nutritious local foods and honor the people who produced them at the same time by visiting a farmers’ market during National Farmers’ Market Week August 3-9.

“At a Kentucky farmers’ market, you can buy the freshest fruits and vegetables as well as meats and other foods you can serve to your family with confidence,” Agriculture Commissioner James Comer said. “You also can meet the people who produced those foods. They’re your friends and neighbors, people you see in town or at the ballgame or at church, and when you shop at a farmers’ market, you’re helping them provide for their families.”

Practice run for school buses Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Schools Transportation Department is ready to roll into a new school year. As part of the preparation for the first day of school, drivers will participate in a practice run on the afternoon of Wednesday August 6, 2014.

This run is a practice day for the bus drivers and school personnel in Pendleton County.

Executive Director of Student Services Joe Buerkley says there are several benefits involved with this process.

The practice run gives drivers an opportunity to review their routes, school administrators an opportunity to review their dismissal procedures, and allows parents and students to confirm their assigned bus.

Families are encouraged to watch their bus stops to note the assigned bus for that route. Buses will depart from schools at the normal dismissal time.

Mechanics have been working throughout the summer to ensure that all buses are inspected, tuned up and in excellent working order. Drivers and monitors have participated in training classes to review safety policies to provide safe and efficient transportation of students.

The first day of school for Pendleton County students will be Monday, August 11. Everyone should be on the lookout for children during their morning and afternoon commute.

A copy of the 2014-15 transportation route list can be found on our district website: http://www.pendleton.kyschools.us
