The boys and girls middle and high school teams traveled to the Scott Eagle Classic on Saturday, September 22. Boys Varsity gave a stellar performance with every member of the team achieving times under 20 minutes. Montgomery Franxman medaled with an eighth place finish and a new PR time of 17:14.

Pendleton County High School held a pep rally in the high school gymnasium last Friday, September 28. PCHS was recognizing their fall sports athletes and their accomplishments this year. The students really enjoy these pep rallies, and it gives them a chance to cheer for the teams and sit with their respective classes.

The Pendleton County Recreational football players and cheerleaders held a food drive in front of Wyatt's SuperValu, the Butler Market, the Dollar Store in Falmouth, and the Dollar Store in Grants Lick on September 15. Over 1,000 non-perishable food items were collected for the Pendelton County Cooperative of Churches Emergency Food Pantry at St. Vincent DePaul, who indicated that this is the largest donation ever made at a single time.

Six years ago, no Ladycat Golfer had ever qualified for the state tournament. That year, 2007, saw the Ladycats make their first and only team appearance with a second place finish.
Watching as a JV member of the Ladycats was seventh grader Maggie Miles.
Watching her older sister, Haley, who was a member of the Varsity team was Holley Hart, a JV Ladycat member.
Fast forward to last Monday and you had Maggie and Holley grabbing two of the four individual qualifying spots for the KHSAA State Tournament. That brings the total to one team (five spots) and 11 individual spots for the Ladycat Golf program over the past six years.

The Midgets dropped to 2-3 with their loss on Sunday. The team got out of the gate slow but played a solid second half. The slow start may have been attributed to the youngsters first experience with artificial turf! Even after the game, several kids were still asking, ‘Is this real grass?’
The lone touchdown came from a 61 yard run by Ethan Verst who benefited from solid blocking by his team. The offensive line was led by Landon Gravett who had an excellent game blocking up front.

The Wildcats soccer team scored an easy win over Mason County early last week, but then went on to drop two in a row to fall to 7-11 on the season.
The 'Cats took on the Royals of Mason County, last Tuesday, September 25 and cruised to a 8-2 win. Senior Aven Harper, Northern Kentucky's leading scorer, continued to carry the team's offense by netting four goals while adding four assists. Seniors Travis Brinkman and Andrew Antrobus also scored along with junior Tony Sanchez. The eight goals marked the highest-offensive output by the club all season.

With the second most wins in region, a 17-8 record and a good season almost under wraps, coach Laura Buck has one focus left, 38th District Tournament that starts Tuesday, October 9 at Harrison County High School. The Ladycats drew the second best team in the district, Harrison County, in a first round match-up.

With a 13-5 record that stands as the fourth best record in the 10th Region, the Ladycat volleyball team won twice in the week over Williamstown and St. Patrick.
Both were potentially trap games as the Ladycats were coming off the big win over a district opponent (Harrison County) and were clearly more talented than both teams. Letdowns happen in these situations when teams lose focus.
