Conservation Scholarships applications being accepted Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Conservation District will be accepting applications for three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each to be given by the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary. Will Browning, chairperson of the Pendleton County Conservation District says the deadline for taking applications is at close of business on February 26, 2014.

The Soil Conservation Natural Resources Scholarship is for any student currently enrolled in college and has declared a major in the field of agriculture or related fields.

The George Crafton Scholarship is for a high school senior that will be entering college this fall, enrolled in the area related to agriculture or natural resources.

The Natural Resources/Betty Barrick/Nontraditional scholarship is for anyone 25 years of age or older returning to or just enrolling in college to major in Natural Resources or related areas.

Participation is state-wide but you may receive one if you apply. If you are interested, pick up an application at the Conservation District Office, 814 US 27 South, Falmouth, or call 859-654-3376, ext. 3 and one can be mailed to you.

Applications are also available at the Pendleton County High School Counselor Office. You may mail or bring your applications back to the Conservation Office again by COB, Wednesday, February 26, 2014.

All programs and services are offered on a non-discriminatory basis.

Northern Elementary student Ethan Caldwell was chosen as the 1st runner up in the Pendleton County League of Women Voters’ Essay Contest: ("If I were Mayor for a Day"). Ethan will receive a $15 award check from the group.
