Todd Moorhead accepts Merit-Based Scholarship to Eastern Ky. University Print E-mail

Pendleton County High School graduate Todd Daniel Moorhead of Falmouth has accepted a Music Department Scholarship at Eastern Kentucky University. Hundreds of additional incoming freshmen and transfer students have accepted merit-based scholarships to attend EKU.

Northern and Southern Elementary kindergarten registration ~ April 16 Print E-mail

Northern and Southern Elementary kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at the child's appropriate school.

You will need to provide the following documents at the time of registration: birth certificate, Social Security card, Kentucky immunization record, physical, eye exam, dental screening, and proof of residency.

Children who are five years of age on or prior to October 1, 2013 are eligible for kindergarten.

Proof of residency is required at the time of enrollment. Please bring a housing contract, a rental agreement, a property tax bill, a utility bill or valid driver’s license.

The required documents must be on file before the first day of school.

Necessary forms may be picked up at registration.

If you have any questions please call the Northern Elementary school office at 859-472-7341 or the Southern Elementary school office at 859-654-6981.

Sheriff's Office would like residents to participate in brief survey Print E-mail

What do you think? The Pendleton County Sheriff’s Office is doing its first ever public survey. Please go to their website www.sheriff.pendletoncounty.ky.gov or hit “Like” on Facebook and go to the survey link to ten (10) questions as they relate to the Sheriff’s Office. They would appreciate your feedback on what you think or believe about your Sheriff’s Office. The answers provided are confidential unless you wish to add your name and contact information in the comment block.  Please take a few minutes, complete the survey and hit submit.  As they are in their seventh year, they would like to see what suggestions, if any, could be helpful to them in the near future. Please respond by April 12, 2013.

109 Board announces adult scholarships Print E-mail

The Pendleton County 109 Solid Waste Management Board is pleased to announce their fifth year in offering $500 scholarships that will be awarded to a non-traditional adult student in May of 2013. A non-traditional student is an adult that is currently attending college or plans to attend college during the fall 2013 semester.

Although the 109 Board continues to support high school scholarships, they also want to support adults returning to college.

GED graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply. The criteria and applications are available through the local Adult Education Office at 654-3325 Ext. 2601.

The deadline for submitting for this scholarship is April 26, 2013.

Falmouth Church Softball League needs teams Print E-mail

The Falmouth Church Softball League is looking for church teams to join the league.

The $300 league fee includes: fifteen games, one tournament, umpires, all softballs and good fellowship.

Please register before Sunday, April 14 if your church wishes to take part.

Important dates for PCHS seniors Print E-mail

The following are important dates for graduating seniors of the Class of 2013:

Senior Awards Night will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 in the high school auditorium.

Baccalaureate services will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 in the high school auditorium.

Class Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20 in the high school gymnasium.

Commencement will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at in the high school gymnasium.

HOKD to hold annual Coffeehouse Print E-mail

HOKD (Hills of Kentucky Dulcimers) would like to invite the public to their annual Coffeehouse from 1 - 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1237 Rocky View, Cold Springs, Ky. (just off the AA Hwy past Alexandria Pike). This is a free event.

HOKD has approximately 150 members whose goal is promote the mountain dulcimer (Kentucky’s official state instrument) via instruction, meetings, jams and public performances. Other instruments played include harmonica, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, guitar, hammer dulcimer and drum.

Relay for Life needs your help! Print E-mail

Relay for Life is making a DVD of survivors and people who have passed away from cancer to be shown at the annual Relay for Life event on June 21.  They are asking for you to send pictures of family members and/or friends that fit either of those categories.

Pictures can be emailed to Mandy Sullivan at m.sullivan102@insightbb.com or mailed to Southern Elementary 900 Woodson Rd. Falmouth, KY 41040 Att: Mandy Sullivan.  Please include their name, years a survivor, type of cancer and if it is in honor of (survivor) or in memory of (deceased).  All pictures are due by April 19.

Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Chamber of Commerce will be holding their ninth annual Golf Scramble on Wednesday, April 24 at Kincaid Lake State Park. RSVP by Saturday, April 20. Registration begins at noon on the day of the event. Shot gun start at 1 p.m.

The cost to participate is $60 per player and includes green fees, cart rental, soft drinks and a meal at the end of the outing.

Prizes will be awarded for the first place team ($300), second place team ($200) and the third place team ($100). There will also be prizes for the longest drive (men and women), longest putt and closest to the pin.

The function of the Golf Scramble has several purposes:

• Fundraiser for the Chamber

• The opportunity to fraternize with other business people

• Provides the business community with a day of relaxation and fun

• Chance to win cash and prizes while taking time off from work

• Opportunity to educate board members on the unique aspects of their business and how the Chamber might be of assistance

Hole sponsorship is $50 per hole.

Mosley ~ Teegarden wed Print E-mail

Marie Mosley and Timmy Teegarden of DeMossville were married on March 15, 2013 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The bride's parents are  Joy Mosley of Falmouth and William Mosley of Butler. The groom's parents are the late Charlie Teegarden and Hazel Teegarden of DeMossville.

Together their children are Damion, Jessica, and Katelyn White and Brittany and Eric Teegarden.

The couple are making their home in DeMossville.
