Relay for Life needs photos Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Relay for Life will be putting together a slideshow to honor and remember those who have and are fighting the battle against cancer. The slideshow will play the night of the event on Friday, June 20, 2014. Relay for Life is requesting photos of your loved ones who have fought or continue to fight cancer.

Information to include with the photos would be:

• In Memory or In Honor of

• Name of the diagnosed

• Type of cancer

• City, state, zip code of where the person fights or fought cancer

Please send original photos to Brett Price, 163 Lakeview Drive, Falmouth, KY 41040 or scanned/digital photos to pcrelay4life@yahoo.com by Monday, June 9, 2014. Original photos will be returned the night of Relay for Life.

Harm Reduction Center in Falmouth to be open May 6 Print E-mail

The Harm Reduction Center, 206 Main Street, Falmouth, will be open from 3 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6.  Come in to learn overdose prevention and response training and/or to pick up a Naloxone rescue kit prescription. For more information visit www.nkypar.org

If you or a loved one is at risk of an opiate or opioid overdose, visit the Center to learn how Naloxone may reverse an overdose. Since it became legal to prescribe Naloxone last July, several hundred kits have been distributed to people at risk of overdose and there has been one documented life saved.

PC senior activity schedule Print E-mail

Senior citizens of Pendleton County, some exciting activities are coming up this week at the Falmouth Senior Activity Center, located at 1111 Chipman Street, Falmouth, Ky.

Following are a few dates to remember:

• April 30: Seniors will be taking a trip to Carroll County for a Derby Party. The center will be closed on that day.

• May 1: The center will be hosting a euchre tournament. Call the center to register. Tourney begins at 9:45 a.m. You are sure to have a great time.

• May 2: Michele with Personal Touch will be at the center at 10 a.m. playing games and giving away free prizes. Everything is free just come on out and have a good time!

• May 5: The center will be having a birthday party for all of May birthdays! Lunch is donated by Edwardo’s Pizza and cake is donated by Wyatt’s. Come celebrate with your friends!

Don’t forget, the center has exercise equipment available for the community, Wii bowling, Wii fitness, van services for doctor appointments and several other amenities!

Golden Family Reunion Print E-mail

The Golden Family Reunion will hold their 18th year celebration Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27 in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

The family will gather in the breakfast area of the Hampton Inn on Friday, April 25 from 5-9:30 p.m. Bring your family history, pics, stories and plan to have some fun!

Spend the day at the actual Stephen Golden first settlement site Saturday, April 26 on Golden Creek. A potluck meal will be served at noon. Be sure to bring a covered dish and lawn chair. Also, bring items to donate to the auction. The money collected goes to the cemetery fund and newsletter. Dinner will be at the Cumberland Inn.

Breakfast and genealogy studying will be held on Sunday, April 27 at the Hamptoon Inn for those who are interested.

The Pendleton County Public Library will be holding a book sale beginning Saturday, May 3, 2014. Prices are $1 for larger books and all hardcovers, and 50¢ for small paperbacks. Call 859-654-8535 for questions.

Maysville Antique & Craft Expo Print E-mail

Maysville’s 20th annual Antique & Craft Expo is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 at the King Burley Warehouse Center, located at 1510 Industrial Park Drive, Maysville, Ky.

More than 150 vendors from six states will be exhibiting their wares inside the 200,000 square foot facility. Antiques will be featured in the east area while crafts will be displayed in the west area. In addition, there will be a large variety of garden plants, shrubs and trees for sale. Jewelry and primitives will be featured.

The expo will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

All profits go to the charities that the Washington Lions support.
