Waist Management 11-week challenge Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Extension Office and Three River Health Department will be conducting a “Waist Management” program starting the first week of January.  The program will last eleven weeks.  See below for day and evening initial weigh in locations and times.

Benefits and cost to program:

• Cost will be $20.00 per participant.  All money will be given back to participants at the conclusion of the program in prizes and awards.

• Awards will be given to the individuals that lose the most weight by percentage and to the participants that receives the most points. (award amounts will be determined after registration)

• Points will be given for attending planned physical activity sessions, for completing weekly challenges and going to the weekly weigh in.

• Blood work and other free health screenings will be given to all participants

Weigh in locations and times:

1. Pendleton County Extension Office on Monday, January 7 between noon and 1 p.m.

2. Flour Creek Christian Church Multi-purpose building on Monday, January 7 between 6-7 p.m.

3. Saint Xavier on Tuesday, January 8 between 6-7 p.m.

Remember to bring your $20.00 registration fee.

Reller ~ Maggard announce engagement Print E-mail

Janet Baird of Butler, Ky. and Bruce Reller Sr. of Erlanger, Ky. are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Bruce Reller Jr. to Suzanne Maggard, daughter of Junior and Barb Maggard of Walton, Ky. Bruce is a job coach at Pendleton County High School and a reporter for The Falmouth Outlook. Suzanne is a reference/collections librarian at the Archives and Rare Books Library at the University of Cincinnati. A September wedding is being planned.

Mary and Susan McDowell returned from West Orange, New Jersey recently. They were working the American Red Cross shelter in the reptile house at the Turtle Back Zoo.

Fossitt celebrates 101st birthday! Print E-mail

Rudolph “Dock” Fossitt, who was a farmer most of his life on Wesley Chapel Road, will be celebrating his 101st year of life on Tuesday, December 18. Dock and his 94-year-old wife Edna are both doing well and reside at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport, Kentucky. They look forward to receiving visitors, cards or letters! Shewalters celebrate golden anniversary Print E-mail

David and Betty Shewalter of Palm Harbor, Florida, formerly of Pendleton County, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, November 3.

The happy couple was married by Dr. Richard White at the Falmouth Christian Church in 1962.

To this union were born two daughters: Lisa Gromaski of Michigan and Wendi Hoffman of Hawaii. They also have three granddaughters Kassidy, Hope and Chloe.

Licking Valley singers recruiting Print E-mail

Calling All Music Lovers! The Licking Valley Singers – Harrison County’s Community Choir is recruiting new members for its Spring 2013 Session. The Licking Valley Singers is an “all comers” non-auditioned community choir open to anyone who loves to sing. The LV Singers perform all kinds of musical styles including classical, pop, folk, and Broadway. The upcoming spring session will be an “On Broadway” review!  The LV Singers began in the fall of 2009 under the direction of Karen Bear – professional singer and choral director. Averaging 45 singers a session, the choir meets Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Licking Valley Campus of the Maysville Community and Technical College in Cynthiana. The spring session begins Thursday January 17 and continues for 12 weeks with performances Friday evening April 19th and Sunday afternoon April 21st. Registration deadline for The Licking Valley Singers is Friday December 21. Early detection can save many lives Print E-mail

Pendleton County Health Center mobile mammography screenings will be available from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, December 28. Covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies under the following guidelines: Ages 35-40 baseline screening, over 40 an annual screening. No cost mammograms will be provided. Private insurances billed and all co-payment/ out of pocket expenses will be paid by a generous grant from  the Susan G Komen For the Cure. To sign up call 859-655-7400.
