The Pendleton County Co-Op of Churches to hold meeting Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Co[operative of Churches will hold it’s bi-monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 at the Falmouth Christian Church, Shelby Street in Falmouth.

All churches in the county are invited to send their ministers and representatives.

Bring any prayer concerns you may have.

Bethel Cemetery Company annual meeting set for May 18 Print E-mail

The annual meeting of Bethel Cemetery Company, Inc. will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at Bethel Church Historic Kentucky Landmark. It is located at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Ky. Highway 17 N., 4.4 miles north of Falmouth.

This meeting traditionally includes an election of officers according to the Bylaws of the 501c3 nonprofit organization which cares for the cemetery and church. Anyone with family resting in Bethel Cemetery is considered a member and invited to attend and/or run for office.

If you haven’t visited recently, make sure you come and see the work that’s been accomplished. More work will be done as time goes on to keep this community landmark an asset to the county and surrounding area. Consider coming and possibly volunteering your time or services.

If you can’t attend the meeting, donations may be made by sending a check to Bethel Cemetery Company, 238 Misty Cove Way, Cold Spring, KY 41076-8513.

All donations will go in the perpetual fund unless specifically directed to the building account.

Pendleton Historical Society Meeting to be held May 17 Print E-mail

The May meeting of Pendleton County’s Historical Society will be at 11 a.m., May 17, 2014 at the Fryer House Museum.

If every member brings a new member to this meeting, it will help us expand our historical horizons. Membership applications are available on our web site for new members and memberships are January through December. If you join late in the year, you’ll be given newsletters published since the beginning of January.

Good things are happening at our Historic Headquarters Building. Plan to attend and see all the goings-on.

Regular meetings are the third Saturday of every month at 11 a.m.

Fryer House is located on the northeast corner at the intersection of Ky. 177 and U.S. 27 in Butler across from Northern Elementary School.

Plenty of free parking is available.

Relay for Life needs photos Print E-mail

The Pendleton County Relay for Life will be putting together a slideshow to honor and remember those who have and are fighting the battle against cancer. The slideshow will play the night of the event on Friday, June 20, 2014. Relay for Life is requesting photos of your loved ones who have fought or continue to fight cancer.

Information to include with the photos would be: In Memory or In Honor of;  name of the diagnosed; type of cancer; city, state, zip code of where the person fights or fought cancer.

Please send original photos to Brett Price, 163 Lakeview Drive, Falmouth, KY 41040 or scanned/digital photos to pcrelay4life@yahoo.com by Monday, June 9, 2014. Original photos will be returned the night of Relay for Life.

Relay for Life Trail Ride Print E-mail

The Relay for Life 8th Annual Trail Ride will be held on Saturday, May 17. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the ride begins at 10 a.m. There is a $10 donation per rider. Participants will be parking and leaving from Roosters Club, 3739 Neave Milford Road, Falmouth, Ky.

The ride will last approximately six to seven hours. Please bring your own drinks and snacks for the ride. There will be grilled items at Rooster’s after the ride as well as 2014 Relay for Life T-shirts available for sale.

Grant County Foods will be holding a job fair on Tuesday, May 13 at the Kentucky Career Center, Pendleton County Office.  The event will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. at the Falmouth School Center, located at 500 Chapel Street. PCHS commencement and important end of year dates Print E-mail

The following is a list of important dates for graduating Pendleton County High School seniors:

Senior Awards Night will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 in the high school auditorium.

Class Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 in the high school gymnasium.

Baccalaureate services will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 in the high school auditorium.

Commencement will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the high school gymnasium.

Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar!

"The Sound of Music" at PCHS Print E-mail

Pendleton County High School will present "The Sound of Music" on Thursday, May 8 - Saturday, May 10.

Based on the real life of Maria Rainer, "The Sound of Music" tells the story of a former nun who leaves the convent to become a governess for the seven children of a wealthy, Austrian widower. As a former officer of the Navy, Captain Von Trapp has grown into a cold disciplinarian. Soon, Maria opens the children to the wonders of life and the joy of music - and eventually softens the heart of their father and gains his love.

All performances will be in the high school auditorium and will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and children.

Please come and support the artistic endeavors of some of Pendleton County’s finest young actors and actresses.
