Melvin Jenkins, 83 Print E-mail

Melvin Jenkins, 83, of Cynthiana, formerly of Pendleton County, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

He was born in Butler on February 24, 1930 to the late Richard and Bertha M. Rider Jenkins and was married 60 years to Mary Goins Jenkins. Melvin was a retired mechanic for Fullers and employee of the Pendleton County Road Department.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were daughter, Virginia Rose Beach; brother, Roscoe Jenkins; sisters, Betty Flynn and Louise Perkins; and grandchildren, David Lee and Allan Eugene Warner.

Surviving are wife, Mary Jenkins, Cynthiana; son, Dennis Jenkins, Cynthiana; daughters, Ruth Jenkins Proeschel, Foster, Ida Castillo, Georgetown; sister, Ilene Flynn, Crittenden; grandchildren, Jesse Jenkins, Mary Gamez, Bridget Williams, Lois Bartley; and great-grandchildren, Willetta Williams, J.T. Bartley, Carlos and Jasmine Gamez.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.

Interment took place at the Turner Ridge Cemetery in Falmouth.

David Hiles "Fuzzy" Flaugher, 77 Print E-mail

David Hiles "Fuzzy" Flaugher, 77, of Brooksville passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home.

Surviving are sons, David Anthony (Cathy) Flaugher,  Brooksville and John Thomas Flaugher, Brooksville.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, January 17, 2014 with memorial service immediately following at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, with Bro. Bob Cannon officiating.

Ronald Lynn "Wink" Myers, 72 Print E-mail

Ronald Lynn "Wink" Myers, 72, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Kenton Pointe Care Center.

He was born on July 3, 1941 to Valera Bauer Myers Bay of Falmouth and the late Charles Leroy Myers.  Ronald was a member of Cemetery Chapel Christian Church.

Surviving are wife, Edna Jean Clos Myers, married on January 30, 1965; children, Regina Lynn Myers, Foster, Rodney Lee Myers, Ronald Lane Myers both of Falmouth; brothers, Jacob Leroy Myers, Falmouth and Charles Steven Myers, Brooksville; grandchildren, Derrick, Danielle and Tristan Myers; and step-grandchildren, Steven  Jr. and Victoria Williams.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Cemetery Chapel Church with funeral services immediately following on Wednesday.

Interment will take place  at Lenoxburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lenoxburg Cemetery or Hospice of Hope.

Mary Sue Allender, 55, of Melbourne passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.

Surviving are siblings, Jerry (Rosie) Allender, Brooksville, Peggy Pulliman, Cynthiana, John William (Carolyn) Allender,  Melbourne, Rita (Ernie)Merritt, Sumner, Ga.,  Ken (Delores) Allender, Falmouth, Jim Allender, Melbourne, Marion (Jay) Brooks, Sunrise and Kent (Carolyn) Allender, Erlanger.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 with funeral services immediately following at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. Ken Allender officiating.

Interment will take place at Lenoxburg Cemetery with Graveside services by Bro. Kent Allender.

Johnny Deaton, 76 Print E-mail

Johnny Deaton, 76, of Hebron, formerly of Butler, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood.

He was born on August 22, 1937 in Wolf Coal, Kentucky to the late Talbert “Tack” and Malinda Turner Deaton. Johnny was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Butler Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed UK Basketball and fishing but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He retired after 20 years as a machinist and maintenance dept. employee for Boston Gear IMO Industries, formerly of Florence. Johnny was never one to sit still, in his retirement he worked part-time for his nephew at Turner Machine in Dayton and was an associate at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Homes and at LATSE Local B38 Ticket Takers Union where he took tickets at Cincinnati Reds and Bengals games.

Preceding him in death were wife, Donna “Susy” Yelton Deaton; and sisters, Magdalene Turner and Rosa Lee Lingley.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy (Bill) Mullins, Ludlow, Karen (Jeff) Shoemaker, Butler; brothers, James “Rob” Deaton, Alexandria, Talbert “Sprig” (Betty) Deaton, Wolf Coal; sister, Polly Dunn, Wolf Coal; brother-in-law, Jim (Lana) Yelton, Falmouth; granddaughters, Donna Mullins, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Nancy Shoemaker, Butler;  and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Peoples Funeral Home.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth with military honors by Hardin-Browning Post # 109 American Legion.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Homes is serving the family.

Dorothy Mae Teegarden, 89 Print E-mail

Dorothy Mae Teegarden, 89, of California, Ky., passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. She was born on December 3, 1924, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Jack Ollie and Mary Baldridge and she married Shelby Teegarden on December 11, 1944. Her husband preceded her in death on June 3, 1998. Dorothy was a homemaker, a member of the Central Christian Church in Newport, and had many hobbies including spending time with her grandkids, shopping,  going to yard sales and fishing with Shelby. Mrs. Teegarden had a beautiful flower garden and enjoyed tending to it whenever possible. Later in life she got her dog Tiger, and he was a faithful friend. She enjoyed going to the river camp with her daughter and son-in-law.

Preceding her in death, in addition to husband and parents,  were son, Bobby Teegarden;  brother, Jack Baldridge; sister, Ginny Powell; and sister-in-law,  Gladys Pauline Cox.

Surviving are daughter, Joyce (Walt) Freeman, California, Ky.;   daughter-in-law, Terry Teegarden;  grandchildren, Kim (Doug) McLaughlin, Carrie (Scott) Ackerson, Kevin Freeman, Travis (Kassaundra) Teegarden, Nikki Teegarden, Dana (Robert) Gee; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth with Bro. Daryl Mullins officiating.

Pallbearers were Kevin Freeman, Chase Ackerson, Colton Ackerson, Josh McLaughlin, Drew McLaughlin, and Scott Ackerson.

Interment took place at the Butler Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Sally Jewell Eileen Insko Beyersdoerfer, 87 Print E-mail

Sally Jewell Eileen Insko Beyersdoerfer, 87, of Foster passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at her home.

She was born on November 18, 1926, in Foster, to the late Lentel and Alberta Pangburn  Insko and married John Leroy (J. L.) Beyersdoerfer on February 28, 1947.

Her husband of 62 years preceded her in death on June 9, 2009. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Pendleton County, where she served as the church pianist and participated in United Methodist Women (UMW), a member of the Pendleton County Homemakers, a member of Order of the Eastern Star, and a Kentucky Colonel. As a self-taught pianist, Sally’s love for music spanned her entire life, from playing the piano for dances in school, to singing with her sisters and playing in area churches as a young adult, to playing for any event at her church and in the community. Mrs. Beyersdoerfer was always willing to share her talent.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, were brothers, Lentel “June” Insko and Norman Insko; and sister, Linda Sue “Lynn” Sexton.

Surviving her are daughter, Connie (Steve) McKinney, Lexington; son, Steve (JoAnn) Beyersdoerfer, Foster; siblings,  Annette “Toots” Sturgeon, Cincinnati, Marilyn Galloway, Foster, Joyce Estep, Cincinnati, Melvin “Bucky” Insko, Florence, Ada Ruth “Ruthie” Sanders, Cincinnati, John Insko, Butler, Larry “Butch” Insko, Walton; grandchildren, Kerry (Timothy) Graul, Stephanie McKinney,  Kate (Josh) Bieker, Betsy (Robby) Powell; great-grandson, Benjamin; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Rev. Carol Mains officiating. Prior to the service, the August Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star conducted a memorial tribute to Sally. Special music was shared by Shirley Cummins and Millie Blades. The pallbearers were Stephanie McKinney, Timothy Graul, Robert Powell, Josh Bieker, Regin Galloway, Danny Insko, Ian Insko, Brad Insko and Troy Insko.

Interment took place at the Lenoxburg Cemetery, Bracken County.

Memorials are suggested to the Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

Amber Renee Horn, 27, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Grant County passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013.

She was born in Covington on April 11, 1985, to Tonya Horn and the late Donald Horn.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are husband, Merrell Jennings, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; son, Tyrell Ray Horn; and daughters, Rhianna, Tiana and Brianna Jennings.

Visitation will be held from 11  a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services to immediately follow, January 8, 2014 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment will take place at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamstown.

Verla Mae Mullins Whitaker, 66, of Berry passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home.

Surviving are husband, Layne Whitaker; and daughter, Debbie "Sissie" (David) Hadden, Berry.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry with Pastor Mike Barres and Bro. Don Fryman officiating.

Interment took place at the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
