Military services held for Link Print E-mail

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members held full military services for Mr. Donald Link at the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery on September 20, 2013.

Mr. Link served in the United States Army in the Korean War.

To Mr. Donald Link we honor and salute you.

Taps was played by Sam Hodge.

Opsie Owsley, 86 Print E-mail

Opsie Owsley, 86, of Falmouth, formerly of Knott County, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.

She was born February 2, 1927 and was a member of the Alexandria Church of God. Opsie loved the Lord, her family and the Church and will be greatly missed by a host of family, friends, and loved ones.

She was the loving mother of Truman (Evelyn) Owsley, and grandmother of April (Johnny) Soto, great-grandmother of Briegh and Keelie Soto, special children Cainan and Megan Nelly (Deanna Nelly), Elijah Brashear (Seth Brashear). Siblings  were Boyd (Jean), Jack (Louveda), Jake (Kathy), Susie, and Gracie (deceased) all of Indiana and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment took place at the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth.

Alma Faye Fryer Flairty, 82 Print E-mail

Alma Faye Fryer Flairty, 82, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

Alma was born at The Fryer House in Butler on January 30, 1931, to the late Percy and Lillie Dunaway Fryer. Alma was a member at the Christ’s Church at Eastside Park.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are husband, Eugene “Sonny” Flairty;  and brothers, Donald and Preston Fryer.

Surviving are sons, Steve Flairty, Lexington, Mike (Theresa) Flairty, Butler; twin sister,  Alta Johnston, Falmouth; and grandchildren, Evan and Matthew Flairty.

Funeral Services were held Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment took place at the Butler Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Piece Makers' Quilting Group, but make checks to : Central Christian Church, c/o Steve Flairty, 3475 Lyon Drive #62, Lexington, KY 40513.

Mary E. Carr, 88, a Covington resident, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 in Cincinnati.

Surviving are son, Sam Carr of Mt. Orab, Ohio.

Joan P. Alton, 70, of Alexandria passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Ft. Thomas.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services immediately following, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment will take place at the Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria.

Juanita McKinney Whitley, 84 Print E-mail

Juanita McKinney Whitley, 84, of Mason, Ohio passed away on September 1, 2013 at her home.

She was born in Pendleton County, near Falmouth on April 30, 1929 to the late John and Lula Blades McKinney. After graduating from Morgan High School, she was employed at Gibson Art Co. in Cincinnati for 20 years and then went to work for Reliance Medical, retiring as a buyer at age 65. Having worked most of her life she was not content staying home, and went back to work at Reliance Medical as a part time employee in human resources. She worked there until the age of 80 when Parkinson's disease made it impossible for her to work. She met and made many friends daily and her warm personality will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
For years Juanita was an avid bowler and enjoyed lunch and shopping with her sister. She also enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Hawaii, Virginia Beach and Florida.

Preceding her in death, in addition to parents, were husband, Otis Whitley; and brothers, Elmo McKinney and John McKinney, both of Falmouth, Shelby (Anne) McKinney, Trenton, Fla.

Surviving are son, Kevin Lee; sisters, Ruth (Ray) Woods, Nancy Jane (Jerry) Kampsen; sisters-in-law, Audrey McKinney, Brooksville, Betty McKinney, Falmouth; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday, September 5 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Mason, Ohio.

Pallbearers were Eddy and Mike McKinney and Charles, Rick, John and Mike Woods.

Lennis James King, 73, of Williamstown passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Signature Healthcare in Georgetown.

Surviving are daughter, Julie Andrea Webster, Dry Ridge; and  son, Michael Wayne Crouch,  Williamstown.

Memorial services were Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Knoxville Baptist Church, Dry Ridge.

John Russell Conroy, 74 Print E-mail

John Russell Conroy, 74, of Florida, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 in Florida.

He was born July 5, 1939 in Falmouth and was a 1957 graduate of Falmouth High School. John was a dear friend and beloved by all who knew him.

Surviving are wife, Barbara Conroy of Florida; two daughters; brother, Paul (Frances) Conroy of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, Fla.
