Military services held for Glass Print E-mail

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members held full military services for Mr. Timothy Douglas Glass at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North Williamstown on October 29, 2013.

Mr. Glass served in the United States Marines.

Rebecca K. Howell, 67 Print E-mail

Rebecca K. Howell, 67, of Falmouth passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013.

She was born in Falmouth on October 4, 1946 to the late Paul and Cora Dunn Mains.

Preceding her in death, in addition to parents, were daughter, Stacey Raleigh and brother, Mark Mains.

Surviving are husband, Billy Joe Howell, Falmouth; daughters, Keri (Bob) Pettit, Falmouth, Amy Howell, Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Joe Mains, Fla., Tim Mains, Ariz.; sister, Cora Ferguson, Falmouth; grandchildren, Kyle (Mary) Pettit, Kelly Pettit, Kian Raleigh, Brody Butler, Brett Williams and Alexandria Girges; and nephew, Jackie Vaughn, Falmouth.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 with funeral services immediately following at  Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth.

Timothy Douglas Glass, 61 Print E-mail

Timothy Douglas Glass, 61, of Falmouth passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at home.

He was born on November 19, 1951, in Covington to the late Douglas Glass and Gladys Linville Glass Cousins and married Ruby Pauline Smith Glass on May 19, 1973. His dear wife survives his passing. Mr. Glass was a truck driver, a US Marine Corps veteran serving during Vietnam, a member of the Short Creek Baptist Church in Pendleton County and a volunteer chaplain for Truckstop Ministries.

Preceding him in death, in addition to  parents, was sister, Tina Glass.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 40 years, are children, Kristina Glass, Falmouth, William (Melissa) Glass and Matt (Amanda) Glass, all of Florence; brother, Barry Glass of Chicago; sisters, Delana Priest, Falmouth, Donna Anderson, Burlington, Teresa Shumway, Carlisle; grandchildren, Raymond J. Thomas and Tori, Eli, Hannah, and Makayla Glass; and a host of extended family and friends.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, October 29, 2013 with funeral services immediately following at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth with John Elmore officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Glass, Matt Glass, Michael Priest, Larry Bishop, Barry Glass and Scott Bickel and  honorary pallbearers will be Kristina Glass, Amanda Glass, Raymond Thomas, Tori Glass, Eli Glass, Hannah Glass, Makayla Glass, Melissa Glass, Bear Mains, Tom Mains, Gary Mains, and Harlen Gallagher.

Interment will take place at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown with full military honors by the Hardin- Browning Post #109.

Memorials are suggested to Ruby Pauline Glass.

Nora Smith, 96 Print E-mail

Nora Smith, 96, of Falmouth passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.

She was born in Campton, Ky. on January 6, 1917 to the  late Thrasher Sr. and Cynthia Holland Smith.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were husband, Roy Smith; sons, William and J. R. Smith; daughters, Joyce Stull, Norella Smith; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are sons, Richard (Jaunita), Hobert (Janet) and Jimmy (Paula) Smith; daughters, Roxie (Nathan) Perkins, Cynthia (Ed) Ward, Lydia (Jerry) Bolia, Kathy (Mike) McDowell;  brother, Fred and Thrasher Smith Jr.; sister, Julie Kelly; 21 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment took place at the Oakland Cemetery in Grants Lick.

Mr. Moore served in the United States Navy.

Evan Charles Peoples, 17 Print E-mail

Evan Charles Peoples, 17, of Falmouth passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013.

He was born in Florence, Ky. on November 16, 1995, to Charles “Craig” and Miranda Peoples and Tanja and Bill Stander.

Evan was a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church, Pendleton County Teen Court, played soccer, basketball and baseball for Pendleton County Recreation and Pendleton County High School. He enjoyed family, friends, sports and hunting.

Preceding him in death were grandparents, Pee Wee and Jean Sydnor.

Surviving are father, Charles “Craig” (Miranda) Peoples, Falmouth; mother, Tanja (Bill) Stander, Alexandria; brother, Bradford Peoples, Falmouth; grandparents, Charles F. and Theresa Peoples, Butler; great-grandmother, Alta Buerkley; step-great-grandfather, Herb Rumford; several uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth. Reception will follow at Antioch Mills Christian Church, Berry.

Donald L. Johnson, 68, of Butler passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013.

He was born in Demossville on May 3, 1945 to the late Lee W. and Lula Mae Cummins Johnson Sr. Don was owner/operator of Johnson Heating & Cooling Inc., a member of Grassy Creek Christian Church, Pendleton Co. Sportsman Club and the Pendleton Co. Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed family, friends, fishing, hunting, horses and UK basketball.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brother, Lee W. Johnson Jr. and sister, Francis Nash.

Surviving are wife, Diane Kidwell Johnson (married 47 years), Butler; son, Greg Johnson-Butler; daughter, Nikki (Cliff) Ruber, Butler; brother, Robert “Bob” (Judy) Johnson- West Chester, Ohio, Paul (Betty) Johnson, Florence; and grandchild, Kyle Ruber.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment will take place at the Butler Cemetery in Butler.

Donald R. Poe, 70, of Pendleton County passed away on October 16, 2013 at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler where he had been a resident for the past seven years.

He was born in Bracken County to the late Emmit and Geneva Clayton Poe on March 31, 1943.

Surviving are sons, Donald R. Poe II, Bedford, Ky., Daniel J. Poe, Williamstown; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Sharpe, Pendleton County; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta, Kentucky.

A special "Thank You" to the staff of River Valley Nursing Home and to the nurses of Hospice of Hope, Mason County.
