Evelyn Louise Miles, 79, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2013, at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport.

William E. Mosley Sr., 58 Print E-mail

William E. Mosley Sr., 58, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

He was born in Kentucky on July 12, 1955 to the late George and Minnie Asbury Taylor. William enjoyed Nascar and was a former employee of Griffin Industries.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers, George, Steve and Duane Mosley; and sister, Bonnie Welch.

Surviving are wife, Mary Reed, Butler; daughters,  Marie (Tim) Teegarden, Demossville, Christina Mosley, Butler, Emily Reed, Foster, Sarah Fields, Falmouth; sons, William (Denise)Mosley Jr., Falmouth, Joshua Reed, Falmouth; sisters, Minnie Steier, California, Ky., Phyllis Rooney, Florence; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 25, 2013 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment took place at the Alexandria Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to: The Christina Mosley Trust Fund.

Dr. Marvin Clinton Holmes, 67 Print E-mail

Dr. Marvin Clinton Holmes, 67, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Louisville.

He was born April 2, 1946, in Falmouth. Dr. Holmes was a graduate of Falmouth High School, Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Education, and the University of Kentucky with a PhD in special education. He was a professor of special education for 32 years at the University of Louisville. Marvin was a man who liked to have a project to tinker with, he could fix anything with a little wire and duct tape and loved all animals and leaves his beloved "pups" who were family to him.

Preceding him in death were parents, Marvin and Margaret Holmes and maternal grandparents, Emmett and Louise Shields.

Surviving are daughter, Kristen Ervin and son, Tony Holmes, both of Louisville.

Memorials can be made to the Woodstock Animal Foundation, 10308 Westport Road, Louisville, KY, 40241.

 
Rosalee Nagel, 86 Print E-mail

Rosalee Nagel, 86, of Grants Lick passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at her home.

Surviving are son, Alan R. Nagel; daughters, Jean Lillie and Judith Nelson all of Grants Lick.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - noon with funeral services immediately following Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Interment will take place at the Alexandria Cemetery.

 
Military services held for Santini Print E-mail

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members held full military services for Mr. Salvatore Santini at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery on November 7, 2013.

Mr. Santini served in the United States Navy.

Robert "Bob" Allen LaFollette, 68 Print E-mail

Robert “Bob” Allen LaFollette, 68, of Falmouth passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati.

He was born in Pendleton County on September 3, 1945 to Rosalee Rice LaFollette and the late Carlos “Shorty” LaFollette.   A graduate of Pendleton County High School, Bob married Julia Jacob LaFollette on October 13, 1979 and his wife survives his passing. From 1976 to 1997, Bob owned and operated Lakeview Liquor in Falmouth. For 10 years, he worked for the Pendleton County School System as a bus driver and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran who earned the Purple Heart, a member of  the Hardin-Browning Post #109 and a member of the VFW and DAV.

Preceding him in death, in  addition to his father, were brothers, Charles Donald “Charlie” LaFollette and Johnny Ray LaFollette.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 34 years and mother, are daughter, Monica (Nathan) Mains, Falmouth; sisters, Judy Hopkins, Falmouth, Kathy (Larry) Turley, DeMossville, Margie (Kenneth) Dunaway, Flemingsburg; brothers, Tom (Pat) LaFollette, Butler, Bill LaFollette, Visalia, Kenny (Paula) LaFollette, Falmouth; beloved granddaughter, Caroline Rose Mains; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at the funeral home, with Marvin Sullivan and Bro. Darrell Breeden officiating.

Interment will take place at the Mt. Vernon  Cemetery, Pendleton County, with full military honors by the Hardin- Browning Post #109.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: Cincinnati Fisher House, VA Medical Center, 3200 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45220.

Lila Manley Dicken, 94 Print E-mail

Lila Manley Dicken, 94, of Butler passed away on November 16, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas.

She was born in Owingsville, she earned a teaching degree at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Her first teaching job was in Campbell Co., where she met her husband, Dale H. Dicken whom preceded her in death, as did a baby girl and a son, Dale Jr. After teaching more than 30 years in Kentucky and Ohio, she retired and spent time volunteering. She was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Campbell County Retired Teachers, Kentucky Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are son, Jeff (Tammy) Dicken, Butler; and daughter-in-law, Diane Dicken, Fairview Park, Ohio; grandchildren, Farrah Dicken (Jim) Breslin, Lexington, Brad  (Kim) Dicken, North Olmsted, Ohio, Riley (Erika)  Dicken, Fairview Park, Ohio, Shelley Dicken, Lakewood, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12 - 2 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013 with the funeral immediately following at Butler Methodist Church under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Carthage (Campbell Co.).

Donald Lee McDonald, 69 Print E-mail

Donald Lee McDonald, 69, of Falmouth, formerly of Covington, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

He was born on November 18, 1943 in Cincinnati to the late Thomas Shelton and Alice Carrie Faulconer McDonald and on September 4, 1965, he married Floride “Flo” Grace Stein, and she survives his passing. He was a clerk with L&N and CSX Railroads for 35 years, a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, a member of the Heritage Fellowship Church in Florence and attended the Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Pendleton County, and a member of the Hardin-Browning Post #109.

Preceding him in death were  brother, Robert McDonald; and  sister, Loretta Hale.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Anthony “Tony” J. (Carrie) McDonald, Columbus;  daughter, Dawn “Dee Dee” Renee (Tom) Bailey, Erlanger; sisters, Mary Marie Martin, Cardwell, Mo., Sylvia Cochran, Grossbeck, Ohio; brother, Clifford McDonald, Murietta, Calif.; and grandchildren, James Kyle Bailey, Mary Grace McDonald, Mark Lee Wayne McDonald.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at  Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Pastor Cleddie Keith officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Timothy Krekeler, Mike Wagers, Thomas Bailey, Jeff Kilburn, Jerry Clendenen, and Ryan Clendenen.

Interment with full military honors by Hardin-Browning Post #109 followed at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.

Pamela Carol Courtney, 56 Print E-mail

Pamela Carol Courtney, 56, of Cynthiana passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Harrison County on March 15, 1957 to Clarence Courtney Jr. and the late Mildred Carolyn Adams Courtney. A 1975 graduate of Pendleton High School and Maysville Community College, she was the owner of Peoples Trophies and Signs in Cynthiana.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are daughters,  Brandy Lu (Jake) Peoples, Butler, Faith Lee Sargent, Georgetown; brothers, Charles (Ann) Courtney, Greg (Pam) Courtney, Kevin (Ronnie) Courtney, all of Berry; sister, Kim (Keith) Bowen, Berry; grandchildren, Samuel Jacob Peoples, Courtney Ann Peoples; and several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Private graveside funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

A celebration of Pam Courtney’s life was Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Williamstown.

Interment took place at the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry with Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth handling the arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church: 389 Mt. Carmel Rd. Williamstown, KY 41097 or the charity of one’s choice.

Ray Francis Wolfe, 85 Print E-mail

Ray Francis Wolfe, 85, of Foster passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Pendleton County on August 27, 1928 to the late James and Mary Ruth Simpson Wolfe. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army, member of the Masons and was retired from American Laundry Machine and Tool in Norwood, Ohio.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were wife, Connie Oberle Wolfe; brothers, James Keith Wolfe, Joseph Marion Wolfe; and sister, Joan Fields.

Surviving are daughter, Mary Francis Wolfe; son, Robert Allen Wolfe; brothers, Robert (Mary Jane) Wolfe, Carol (Wilma) Wolfe, Dale (Brenda) Wolfe, Earl Wolfe; sisters, Wilma Bonar, Joyce (Buddy) Webster, Marilyn (Rich) Robertson; grandchildren, Danielle Wolfe, Anthony Damien Hicks; and 23 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon - 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 with funeral services to immediately follow at the Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Interment will take place at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
