Melburn C. Hargett, 86

Melburn C. Hargett, 86, of Silver Grove, (long time resident of Pendleton County) passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at his home.

He was born in Foster on February 24, 1928 to the late Homer and Edna Crawford Hargett, was a member of Flagg Springs Baptist Church and a World War II Veteran of the United States Army.

Preceding him in death, in addition to parents, were wife, Ruth (Dunn) Hargett; granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Hargett; brothers, Eugene, Wilburn, Edgar, James and Richard and sisters, Lucille, Ilene, Louise, Dorothy and Bobbie Jo.

Surviving are children, Nancy (Don) Chandler, Dale Hargett, Kathy Hargett, Darlene (Paul) Lee, Ilene (Ray) Shields, Teresa (Larry) Workman and Dan (Karen) Hargett; brother, Joseph "Pete;" sisters, Ann Trapp, Leona Tapp; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Interment took place at the Butler Cemetery under full military honors.
