“Mother’s Day”

In 1914, president Woodrow Wilson made the official announcement proclaiming Mother’s Day a national observance that was to be held each year on the second Sunday of May.

Traditionally, Mother’s Day is one of the most widely celebrated events in our nation. On May’s second Sunday, restaurants are filled to overflowing, florists and card companies do a booming business and the phones come alive as children seek to remember the women who gave them life.
