|Mary Catharine Conelly, 89|
She was born March 2, 1924 in Grant’s Lick to the late Joseph Robert Vater and Virginia Louise Insko Vater. Mrs. Conelly was a 1941 graduate of Campbell County High School and earned a diploma from the Miller School of Business in 1942 in Cincinnati. She was a member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church who enjoyed being the “sunshine lady” sending greeting cards to family and friends and found pleasure in playing cards, making/receiving phone calls, reading magazines especially Guidepost, watching TV, and keeping up with the latest news. She had a special relationship and interests in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was happiest when cultivating her flower and vegetable garden, loved being surrounded by family and friends and especially enjoyed caring for her cat, Max.
Preceding her in death, in addition to parents, were husband, Chester L. Florence (1982); and son, Ronald E. Arendell.
Surviving are daughter, Karen L. (Gilbert) Elberson; step-children, Juanita (Lester) Cockayne, Loman, Minn. and Neil (Phyllis) Florence, Verona; siblings, Hope Kent, Spring Hill, Fla., David (Wanda) Vater, Alexandria, Jean (Gene) St. John, Alexandria, Jesse (Shirley) Vater, Butler; grandchildren, Julia K. (Sean) Matthews, David J.M. (Maria) Elberson; great-grandchildren, Colby and Cory Matthews, and Leah Elberson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 followed by a reception at Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Peoples Funeral Home is serving the family.
Interment will take place at Flour Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Butler, Kentucky.
