He was born on October 28, 1936, in Butler to Esther Moreland and the late Charles Verne Moreland and a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1955. Mr. Moreland was a loving husband and father that also loved the Lord, serving as a Methodist Lay minister for several years and also enjoyed his years as a truck driver logging over two million miles.
Surviving are mother, Esther Moreland of Butler; his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Moreland, Phenix City; children, April Trawick, Union, Ky., Marty (Norma) Moreland, Butler, Mike Moreland, Butler, Mel (Anna) Moreland, Sharpsburg, Ga., Chuck (Heidi) Moreland, Atlanta, Ga., Carol (James II) Givens, Salem, Ala. and Matt Moreland, Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Elsie (Kenny) Ice, Butler; grandchildren, Christian, Bridget, Brandi, Adrienne, John, Priscilla, Ashley, Jamie, Alex, Mary, Rachel and Bella; great-grandchildren, Katie, Thomas, Talon, Riley and Easton; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Butler.
