Hunter saves life of buck as the anniversary of accident approaches

Two bucks became entangled Monday along Kentucky 9 in a small creek. Caleb Mullikin rescued the deer by freeing them by untangling their antlers. One deer died during the fight, the other fled to a nearby wooded area. Photo by Terry Prather/The Ledger Independent.

Four years after a hunting accident landed him in the hospital for an extended period, Caleb Mullikin found a way to pass along the mercy that helped him recover from his injuries.

Every year Mullikin takes two weeks of vacation from his job in order to spend some time bow hunting.

"I've been hunting since I was about 7 years old," Mullikin said. "It's something I like to do and every year I take some vacation time to do it."

This year the avid hunter actually saved the life of a buck.
