Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members wanted Print E-mail

Want to learn disaster preparedness skills?  Want to be part of a volunteer emergency response force in our county? Be part of a program that helps you help others?  Pendleton County in conjunction with Boone and Kenton Counties will be conducting a free course that provides intense hands-on training designed to help citizens protect themselves, their family and their neighborhood in disaster situations.  Learn preparedness for hazards that may impact our area and basic disaster response skills including: utility management, small fire suppression, medical assistance, safely searching for victims, and how to organize a team to be effective.  Those who complete the training are assigned to the Pendleton County team which may be activated to assist with disaster response. We have a mass casualty trailer in which CERT plays an important role in its use and deployment. All the training takes place in Boone County where the final session will include a mock drill where all your learned skills will be put to the test. You must be at least 18 years old, willing to submit to a background check and attend all five sessions to complete the program. Dates and times are as follows:  Tuesday, October 8, 6 -  9:30 p.m.; Thursday, October 10, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.;  Tuesday, October 15, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.;  Thursday, October 17, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. To register and for more information call 859-654-1930, email pcema@blueone.net or go to the home page of the Pendleton County website at www.pendletoncounty.ky.gov
