Phillip Sharp Middle School to present "Parent Night" program Print E-mail

Session One: “Understanding Your Child’s Behavior”

All parents…mark your calendars for Tuesday, Oct. 1, 6:30 - 8 p.m., to attend "Understanding Your Child’s Behavior", the first of four "Parent Nights" being presented at Phillip Sharp Middle School this school year. Each session is for parents helping students develop the academic, social, and self-management skills they need to succeed.

This program is designed for all parents and is geared toward the "Student Success Skills" program and concepts being presented weekly to all Sharp Middle School students. You do not have to have a middle school student to benefit from this program as the skills you learn will help parents with children of all ages.

This Parent Night will include a short presentation, parent success skills activities, free refreshments and snacks, plus a chance to win free door prizes - board games (Duck Dynasty, Hedbanz, etc.), fishing tackle, gift baskets, Redbox, and gear from your favorite sports teams such as UK, Louisville, Reds, and Bengals.

This is considered a "qualifying event" for the North FRYSC Christmas Program for parents of Sharp Middle School and Northern Elementary School students!

To register for this event please call 859-472-5518, (North FRYSC).  If childcare is a concern, they’ve got that covered too.  The North FRYSC/NSACC will have childcare available, but you must sign them up when registering by giving your child/children’s name and age in order to assist in the planning of activities and snacks for the children.

Flyers for this event, as well as flyers for upcoming events, will be sent home with PSMS students and NES students announcing additional Parent Nights for the months of Nov., Jan., and Feb.  Future topics will include:

Session 2: "Parenting with Style - Guiding Your Child Through Life Skills."

Session 3: "Building Optimism Through Encouragement and Refocusing."

Session 4: "Communicating is the Heart of the Matter!"

You can gain the most from attending all four, but…you can gain a lot from attending just one or two of the sessions!  Each session is self-contained, and geared to a different topic, so you won’t "be lost' by not having been able to attend the previous session.  Again, call 859-472-5518 to register for this event as it will help plan for snacks/refreshments, and appropriate activities for the children who may need childcare during the presentation.
