Walk to End Alzheimer's Print E-mail

Generous individuals are being asked to “move” in support of the fight against Alzheimer’s disease at the 2013 Grant, Pendleton and Bracken Counties Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Grant County Park in Crittenden, Ky. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the Walk begins at 10 p.m.

Almost 100 people participated in last year’s Walk in Augusta, Ky., which generated nearly $9,000 in donations.

“Alzheimer’s disease touches many families in Grant, Pendleton and Bracken counties. The Walk is a way for the community to come together in support of these families and the services and programs we provide,” said Krista Powers, Development director with the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati.  “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many in the past and we are hopeful they will join us again this year.”

Serving as the primary national fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is an annual event that brings those affected by Alzheimer’s disease, family members and community together in a show of love, remembrance and support. Last year, 4,200 people participated in the Chapter’s five local Walks, raising a record $545,000 to support the Greater Cincinnati Chapter’s local programs and services and national Alzheimer research.

Sponsors for this year’s event include VFW Post #2734 Ladies Auxiliary, Forcht Bank, VFW Post #2734, Carolyn and Bob Wehling, St. Elizabeth Healthcare / St. Elizabeth Physicians, Stan Boster/Boster Trust, Heritage Development Corporation – Scott Boster, Citizens Deposit Bank, First National Bank of Brooksville, Reynolds Pharmacy and Total Care Pharmacy.
