Rev. James Ellis Conrad, 81

Rev. James Ellis Conrad, 81, of Foster passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.

He was born in Covington on September 24, 1931 to the late Wilbur and Bess Gulick Conrad.

Rev. Conrad retired from Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church after years of preaching in Nelson, Anderson, Montgomery, Owen, Estill and Pendleton counties. He served in the United States Army as Specialist 3rd Class.

Preceding him in death, in addition to parents, were step-mother, Hilda Conrad; son,  James Ray Conrad; brothers,  Donald, Ralph, Tom, Marvin and Woodrow Conrad and sisters,  Elnora Aulick, Mary Dougherty, Emma Grace Moorehead and Ruth Bentle.

Surviving are wife, Rachel Stearman Conrad, Foster; sons,  John Conrad, Astor, Fla., Joe Conrad, Alexandria, Jack (Julie) Conrad, Ft. Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Conrad, New Holland, Ohio; grandchildren,  Isabella and Elise Conrad; and  several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church, under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home. Officiating the services were Darryl Wilder and Jamie Thornsberry, music by Adarin Williams, Monte McElfresh and the congregation sang “Victory In Jesus.” Serving as pallbearers were Delbert Cox, Jimmy Roseberry, Hank Roseberry, Billy Corbin, Jack Gallagher and Doug Adams and honorary pallbearer were Johnny Eshman, Bob Florer and Randall Schlueter.

Interment took place at the Short Creek Cemetery, Pendleton Co.
