UK Markey Cancer Center offers free screening service for women Print E-mail

The free ovarian cancer screening program, offered year-round through Markey, is open to women ages 50 and older, and to those older than 25 who have a family history of ovarian cancer.  The program was started in 1987 with a goal of studying whether transvaginal sonography could be an effective tool for early detection of ovarian cancer.

This year, the Pendleton County Extension Service will be providing transportation for nine women to take advantage of this free screening service on April 29. Those wishing to take advantage of this screening will need to call the P.C. Extension Office at 859-654-3395. They will take the first nine individuals that call to fill these slots.
