|Elbert "Gene" Flaugher, 82|
He was born in Lenoxburg to the late Louie and Mayme Thome Flaugher. Mr. Flaugher was a veteran of the US Army. In his career, he was the owner and operator of the Shell Service Station, a milk hauler, assistant supervisor of the Ky. State Highway Maintenance, director of Prison Industries for the Ky. Department of Corrections and mayor of the city of Falmouth for seven years. He also served on the Pendleton County Board of Education for 16 years. He was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church and served in many positions.
Preceding him in death, in addition to parents, were three brothers, Bob, Charlie and Pete; and one grandson.
Surviving are wife, Joyce (Sullivan) Flaugher; son, Tim (Angie) Flaugher; daughters, Tammy (Dean) Ammerman, daughter, Jennifer Harper; son-in-law, Phillip (Margaret) Harper; brother, Allen (MaeJo) Flaugher; sister, Mary Sue Courtney; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Flaugher, Paula Flaugher; grandchildren, Dawn (Jonathan) Thornberry, April (Jaime) Meadows, Barry (Monica) Ammerman, Cassandra (DJ) Jacobs, Justin and Olivia Flaugher; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Falmouth Baptist Church, with Rev. Cohen Copley and Rev. George Naylor officiating. Remembrances were shared by Marvin and Clay Sullivan. Amy McKinney and Karri Rider provided special music.
Pallbearers were Justin Flaugher, Blake Meadows, Jaime Meadows, D.J. Jacobs, Barry Ammerman, Jonathan Thornberry, and Phillip Harper. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Ammerman, Cliff Wallace, Bob Wallace, Leon Galloway, Larry Spears, Arnold Ross, Steve Trauth, Jim Haley, and his nieces and nephews.
Interment took place at the Riverside Cemetery, and was officiated by Dr. Bob Jackson. Woodhead Funeral Home served the family.
