John "Pete" Thome Flaugher, 76 Print E-mail

John Thome “Pete” Flaugher, 76, of Franklin, Tenn., formerly of Lenoxburg, passed away on January 17, 2013 at his home.

Born in Lenoxburg, to the late Louie and Mayme Thome Flaugher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal. Pete graduated from the University of Kentucky and the LSU School of Banking and began his 41 year banking career in Franklin at Harpeth National Bank.  He continued his career with Williamson County Bank, Citizens Bank in Gainsboro, Franklin National Bank and retired from Fifth Third Bank.  He has served the community of Franklin and Williamson County through his many years of service on numerous committees and boards including the Franklin City Planning Commission, Disciplinary Board at Williamson County Detention Center, University of Kentucky Alumni Board, Chairman of Mt. Hope Cemetery and deacon at Heritage Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death  were daughter, Kate Flaugher Polk and  brothers, Bob and Charlie Flaugher.

Surviving are wife, Paula Buchanan Flaugher; son, John T. (Jennifer) Flaugher; daughter, Mary F. (Mark) Gillenwater; son in law, Chris Polk; brothers, Allen and Gene Flaugher; sister, Mary Sue Courtney; and grandchildren, Johnny Flaugher III, Carter, Annie and Samuel Gillenwater, Clayton and MaryKate Polk.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Heritage Church of Christ with Paul Forshey and Steve Blackman officiating and Williamson Memorial Funeral Home serving the family.

Pallbearers were Jim Bier, William Cherry, Jody Bowman, Jimmy Dyer, B.B. Joyner, Charlie Darnell, Julian Bibb, James W. Cross and Hooper Inman and honorary pallbearers included Jim Crowell, Kay Waller, Myers Jones, Gordon Inman, Jere Pewitt, Jeff Smith, Bob Pickard, Dan McCain, Bobby Bolden, Jim Johnson, Dan Parsons, the elders and deacons of Heritage Church of Christ and nephews.

Interment took place at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
