The Pendleton County GATES program fosters service-learning as a way of helping students to extend their boundaries, learn more, and use their talents to serve others.   Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.
