Falmouth Christmas Parade activities Print E-mail

A season of joy is fast approaching and giving is in our hearts.

The Falmouth Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 1 and the following is a list of activities taking place that day.

A gift of a non-perishable food item rewards the giver with a ticket for the Christmas drawings. Please make sure these items are unopened and within the proper use date.

The Falmouth Lions Club will have a box on the stage in town the day of the parade and a ticket will be awarded to anyone who donates a pair of glasses.

All ticket holders must be present and have their ticket with them to win. Sorry no exceptions.

Please remember the food items will be donated to the Falmouth Rotary Club for their food drive for the White Christmas and someone will have better eyesight by your giving.

New this year will be our crowning of Snow Queen, Snow Princess and Old Man Winter.

An opportunity for the community to come together will be the placement of trees through the main downtown area. These trees are for businesses, churches, school groups and other organizations to decorate. What a fun time for sharing, caroling and showing some talent. Remember  to safely secure decorations and ornaments. Please use plastic and non-breakable items.

Another new addition to this year's festivities is a Christmas Bake-off. Rules for the bake-off are as follows: Christmas cakes, cookies and breads must be presented on stage one hour prior to the parade (3 p.m.). Parade starts at 4 p.m. Recipes must accompany each entry. All items must be homemade. No purchased items will be accepted.

As a committee we are working hard to make this a joyful event for all. Wonderful music, good food, fun prizes and a visit from Santa with a wonderful parade.

Prizes (first, second and third)  will be awarded in the following categories: Homes - (judged De-cember 15) first - $50, second - $30, third - $20. Snow Queen - $50, Snow Princess $25, Old Man Winter $50.     Parade - (overall) first - $50, second - $30, third - $20. Trees decorated downtown - first - $50, second - $30, third - $20. Christmas Bake-off - first - $50, second - $30, third - $20.
